Vicodine Addiction?

Can anyone post any feedback on vicodine withdrawl and symptoms? I used a tab (NEVER MORE) for over a year and am wondering if I quit cold turkey about 2 months ago, if the feelings I get are from w/d or something else. I have used 1 or two on the weekends only since then as the pain worsens, so maybe it's not totally cleared?? ANyone have any thoughts, would LOVE to hear.....

I was precribed some for sustained injuries a while back. The first side effect was nightmares etc... I also felt very relaxed, cool but sometimes lethargic and sleepy. Withdrawl should be no problem unless you were on them for an extended period of time, i.e. over 2 months. You said that you took one tab. Was that per day or every other day? Either way, one tab a day isn't that much. One a day shouldn't be too much to wean off of however; you indicated that you took it for over a year. It will take some time getting used to not taking them. You should wean off the stuff and get it totally out of your system. You don't want to be addicted to that shit. Good Luck.

Vicodin Withdrawal

Vicodin is one of the most commonly abused prescription pain medications today. One of the most widely prescribed medications, Vicodin and its related medications, loricet, loritab percodan, and oxycontin are opioid-based pain medications. Vicodin is a derivative of opium, which is also used to manufacture heroin. Individuals with a Vicodin addiction become deeply depressed, and their thinking, attention, and judgement become impaired. Their thoughts dwell on the next high, although they tell themselves they are still taking Vicodin for pain or to avoid the withdrawal symptoms. Individuals with a Vicodin addiction often truly feel physical pain, but it is psychologically produced.

Individuals with a Vicodin addiction crave more Vicodin and tolerate greater amounts of the drug to achieve their high. Vicodin addictes go to great lengths, even breaking the law to get Vicodin. They continue abusing Vicodin even though they suffer negative physical and social consequences. Individuals with a Vidocin addiction are often aware of thier addiction, but may be too embarrassed or stubborn to admit it.

If a regular Vicodin user stops taking Vicodin, he or she will experience Vicodin Withdrawal within six to twelve hours but the symptoms are usually not life-threatening. The intensity of Vicodin Withdrawal depends on the degree of the Vicodin addiction. For example, the symptoms of withdrawal from Vicodin may grow stronger for twenty-four to seventy-two hours and then gradually decline over a period of seven to fourteen days.

The symptoms of Vicodin withdrawal include but are not limited to:

restlessness
muscle pain
bone pain
insomnia
diarrhea
vomiting
cold flashes
goose bumps
involuntary leg movements
watery eyes
runny nose
loss of appetite
irritability
panic
nausea
chills
sweating

1 a day for over a year.........and yes, i already googled it.........just wanted some true life experiences........

my bro had to have his blood filtered/cleansed....6K
his daily dosage was over 25 tabs a day...
teeth are all brown now....

1 tab a day????....i wouldnt see much problem kicking it. IF it was 1 tab a day...if its not- you'll meet Satan himself tryin to kick cold turkey my friend.

even with the filtering of the blood, my bro wanted to commit suicide...do not be alone under any circumstances when youre ready to kick.

Like I said before, I was on it for maybe a month or so for an injury. When I got off, I phsycologically craved it and my body wanted it although the pain from the injury was gone. The withdrawl caused other bodily pains and I thought I needed more to make the pain go away. I recognized that it was the addictive qualities of the drug and I fought the urge. It's a common side effect. You have to fight the urge and not take it anymore. It's difficult but very possible to attain this goal. Remember, it's a synthetic derivative of the opiate poppy plant. The plant that also produces heroin, morphine etc... It's not something you want to be dependant on. One a day for over a year is a long period however, you weren't taking too much per day. You'll manage as long as you put your mind to it. Good Luck.

i am the master of vicodin addiction. one of the side they don't mention is inferior muscle contraction. it interferes with the synapses...

Using one a day is not very likely to cause an addiction problem. If you stopped for two months without withdrawal symptoms, you're in the clear. There was an NFL football player who was using SIXTY 750MG tabs per day for months on end. So your one tab a day isn't very much to get hooked.
i heard Brett Fahv-rah was using `round 30...

Chills but sweating, hot flashes, anxiety, extreme aches, can't sit still but don't feel like moving, cold/flu symptoms, the runs, stomach cramps from hell, and the worst, DEPRESSION. If you think your addicted to Vicoden, stop for a day, you'll know if your addicted or not. Doubt you are with 1 per day unless it's more a mental thing.

my friend was on about 15-20 a day for close to a month. It really sucked. spent alot of money. When he stopped. he was a fuckign madman for about a week. Cranky really irritable like flipping out over nothing. It went away. he didnt really have a problem sleeping as he was tired all the time neway from being without them. But only one a day. I think ull be fine

my hands turn blue at night......cold and tingly.....that;s the friday after Ive take 1 on the previous SUnday........am I continuing to go through w/d every week by being clean and then having one or two on the weekends?

You post about this every few months. I even think a couple of months back it was for a friend. I call bs on one tab a day. Unless it was really OC 80 we are talking here, one vic 5, 7.5 or 10mg tab a day isn't going to do jack for you after one year of every day. You would be able to stop at this very moment, because that tiny one tab dose would have stopped working for you after about one week. If you have a serious pill problem and from the nonstop posting about pain killers and addiction over the past 4 or 5 months, then you need to get honest with yourself. Only then will you be able to face your demons and overcome them. It will be hell and you will want to jump back on, but if you are strong and stay strong, you can overcome. I wish you the best of luck and hope you are able to kick it.

my exact thoughts.

If addicted to Vic's or any other opiates go to a Doc who can prescribe Suboxone.

bro are you bein honest about how much youre taking? you can be honest with us on this board man. everyone is here to help. vicodin or any pain killer is something that you wont feel the effects eventually and you need to up it. its hard to believe that youve been on one pill for a year.

There was a segment on painkiller addiction with Pro Athletes on Real Sports(HBO). the athlete Ulter is referring to was Christian Peter who played for the NY Giants. He said he was taking up to 60 a day. I have been off and on pain meds since 94 for 7 Ortho Surgerys. I had my neck fused in 2003 and was taking 6 Hydrocodones a day for maybe a week. I did not like the lethargic feeling and of course the Fucking constipation, so I could never imagine taking 60 in a week esp. 60 a day. I still take at least 3-5 a week for the pain associated with my surgerys.

After my injury and my arm getting infected afterwards I was on viccoden for a couple of months and bro it was really hard for me to get off of it. I mean for months I craved a tab of it, and my wife had some in the medicine cabinet and every time I felt a joint pain or an ache I would walk over and get the bottle and just stare at it for a few minutes before putting it up without taking one.

My torn bicep got a major infection in it, long story, and had to had to be left open (a 1/2" incision) to drain while it healed for a month, and had to regularly be flushed with saline, and repacked.

Basically my girlfriend at the time and I got food poisoning at a buffet a couple days after a minor bicep tear and the bacteria in the food spread from my GI tract to my arm (the doctors found the same bacteria in a culture from my arm that had been found in my wife and I's systems after eating the food).

Needless to say my arm hurt a lot all the time.

Vicode/ Loritab (Hydrocodone) Is clinically proven more addictive than any other pain med morphine, demarol etc.. Studies show (and I am an addict too) That 1 week of hydrocodone use even at 1 day can cause withdrawals. I am down to 1 vicoden a day from app. 100+mg a day of oxycodone (percoset) I have been taking 1 vicoden a day (1 7.5 mg tab I take and split it into 2 doses) and If I stopped cold turkey I would feel withdrawals!!!! See Here is what happens Just like steroids stop your natty Test production...Pain killers stop your natty production of Dopamine (your body's natural pain killer) so after taking them and stopping all the pain you had before you started that was covered up by your bodies natural dopamine .. you start to feel because you have no pain killers and no dopamine in your system!!

Bump this up. Bro, I am worried about you. You have been doing good with your other problems and I know if you overcame the eating disorder, you can overcome this. I know the one tab a day is bullshit and so does everyone else. Like I said, unless you are talking oc 80, then one vic tab is crap. You need to be honest with yourself, that is the only way to overcome this. I have had my own demons to deal with when it comes to this poison. We are all your brothers here on Elite, if you need help, we are here for you.

you can take Ultram (tramadol hcl) to wean yourself off of hydrocodone (a/k/a vicodin).
Take a descending dose. It's a non-opioid, non-controlled drug more moderate to severe pain available only by Rx in USA but might be over the counter in Mexico. "Tramacet" -- Mexican version of tramadol and acetimeniphen.
