Vicodin, AAS, etc. and Addiction

I have read numerous posts recently inquiring about the addictive properties of drugs, especially pain killers. Now, I don't want to get on a soap box and preach, but I would like to comment on addiction in general. I am a recovering alcoholic and addict (9 months clean last week) and have learned that the addicted person is different from the general popluation. I could ramble regarding reasons for use, but for most of us it comes down to feelings. We use to alter the way we feel, whether that be with vicodins, AAS, doritos, or sex.

So I would just recommed to anyone looking to put something in their body to evalute the reasons for doing so. I am not saying you can't get addicted to oxy's if you don't exhibit addictive behaviors because you certainly can. Certain compounds are obviously more addictive than others.

Take it from someone who has been through inpatient rehab twice--just be careful. For me, I know that I cannot even use AAS (how many times have you read a post saying "I love the way i feel on test!). But that is just me. I know people who can take one vicodin twice a month for pain and never need more.

For those of you this may pertain to--help is available if you choose that path. Feel free to contact me if you wish. I would be more than happy to help.

I hope this didn't come off as too preachy, but I just felt it was something that needed to be said.

I know you are trying to say this positively. But everyone is different. I was hooked on Vicoden for years. I was able to quit and it was hard. But never did AAS or Alcohol create a problem for me. Just adding that as a personal comment. The next person will have a different weakness of choice and abilities to deal with it. Stay strong on your personal mission and best of luck to you.

Congratulations

Sober 18 months this time, my drug was booze.

Gear is great, helps you gain, lose, etc. And you feel better and have rage roid, etc….

But you don’t get high on gear,

When you take drugs or booze, you are looking for, live for the buzz, which as we both know goes away and then you live to want to die.

Kind of scary.

I know what your are saying and I am not explaining my feelings very well, addictive personality aside. I would not worry about gear vs booze or drugs.

If they take my gear, I would really, really be pissed, then move on, If I get drunk today, well you know where I will be, and I would not be looking at this board.

Thanks for the congrats and encouragement bros.

solidspine--18 months is quite an achievement. Congratulations to you and keep doing what you are doing. God-willing (gulp! yes I said "God") I will be there too, one day at a time. I know a lot a people who have no issues with steroids like yourself, but giving them a beer is handing them a death sentence. Realistically, a cycle is probably not going to make me go out and drink and use again. I just made that choice looking at my behaviors in the past and felt the only way I would stay sober this time would be to stop everything.
