Valkyrie!!!!!!!

Well, as you know, Tomkat and I have been communicating through our tin foil hats that are special and pick up on brain waves that actually are fueled by brain cell power and he was telling me that he was controlling everything on the set by wearing his bubble wrap suit in between shootings. This in turn along with the tin foil hat made the great spaceship in the sky send signals to all sattelite's across the sky and those would send signals to all the camera's on the set, thus making everyone in that movie good. Tomkat also sent me waves of enlightenment which stimulated my brain to thinking of typing this. L. Ron Hubbard told Tomkat that he should do very well as the technology of the Oprah Winfrey Show and he naughty doings with Gale seem to send extra electricity into the atmosphere which would help in the receiving of all signals sent by the great ship in the sky. Moron Hubbard later. Tomkat is on a mission from L.Ron Hubbard, king.........of the special group of donators on earf and well to his own mind. Tom's next movie is about how a almost 50 year old man can nab a 20 something beotch and how he plows her every night.

I say go Tomkat go........

I am joking ya know...... don't ya?

actually it's been beaten down by MOST critics, and is already considered a "flop"

But, to each his own

I'm glad you liked it, seriously,......that's what's great about "opinions" - everyone's is different.

ahqppy holidays to you and yours bro

Wait a sec.......... getting signal................. OMG (laughter)...................................... there is laughter in my ears................... and Tomkat is saying something liiiiike........................ "walli tell Housemusik83 thank you..............."............... oh and he predicts also that Barrack O'Bama will help the economy in a year....... by......... damn I am getting a headache (TomKat hurry please).............by borrowing from................ China and L. Ron...........will............ try and get it all by............... selling Tin Foil Hat with Tomkat's sig.............. but no special booster on tat model. I do know where to get a excellent deal on the real Foil hats if your interested. I hope this doesn't violate the rules of the board, I know the no source tawk ruwl.

Sounds like a movie I would watch......

How so - (I simply skimmed the article, so I'm curious....)

There are a number of misconceptions the author propagates.

I'll clarify some misconceptions.
Hitler had roughly 40 assassination plots against him and the two that came the closest occurred before WWII.

Concentration camps were nothing new, Hitler had used them to imprison his political rivals since the early 1930's (not just Jews) and in the early days they showed propaganda films in theater's about how deviants were being reformed through exercise and clean living. Anti-semitism wasn't exclusively German. The conquered French willingly filled trains with Jews to be sent to camps, even on the same day Paris was liberated in 1944. Concentration camps weren't "death camps" there was only one camp that specialized in killing "undesirables", it was the brainchild of Reinhard Heydrich, the person responsible for the final solution. Jews weren't the only undesirables...there were also Slavs, homosexuals, political opponents, and other religious minorities.

There is a legitimate case that officers serving on the general staff and the front didn't know what was going on inside Germany just like current U.S. officers don't know what goes on in Cuba. If your neighbor was taken away as a suspected terrorist to a camp would question it? Would you follow their case or would you trust the government when they called your neighbor an enemy of the state?

The Pope was advised by his Bishops about the camps but he did nothing. As a matter of fact, many Nazi's escaped to South America using Papal visa's.

I heard the way it is filmed is great. The supporting cast is amazing. Tom Cruise is bad. In other words when you watch it you see everyone else as their characters and Tom as Tom not some German dude.

youre biased cause its a movie about operation jewish freedom. which is cool, but prob why you identify with it and like it so much when it most likely sucked
his people have a long memory.

actually you are wrong, it had NOTHING to do with jewish liberation... the message was more not ALL germans were pro-nazi and not all of them approved with hitler's tactics and beliefs... ifs anything it made me realize not all nazis were bad, and it is a WWII story not was never told before, witch to me was amazing

Not all Germans were Nazis. Most of the officers in the Werhmacht disliked Hitler. The guy in my avatar referred to him as "the bohemian corporal." He was approached by the conspirators because of his views about Hitler and his popularity with the troops as a field commander. However, in typical Prussian fashion he refused to join the conspiracy stating, "Prussian Marshal's do not revolt."

Easy now....... lets not turn a film into a political bashing on the whoevers, whenevers, and whatever....
Ah sheot............. (getting a signal)..... oh my....... Tomkat says to be cool........ is wasn't meant to be argued over...... and he also is sayin'......... his hats are selling like hot cakes at The Waffle House...... with the grease he said hahahaha that Tom......... oh he said to Housemusik to post up some music at Utube so we can hear cool mixes and such. ................hahahahhahaha he pulled a funny and said KTHXBYE......

That Tomkat, he sure is a joker.

whether they were with Hitler or not - Germany went down "HARD" - and nothing can take that away................

I'm sure Java will have a take on this, but there's no denying the U.S. wiped their ass with Germany in WWII

Ahh, a well educated Bostonian. Do a little studying kid, it'll make your brain feel better.

if you judge winning/loosing by the number of soldier's lives lost, then russia is the true winner.

If you combine the Italian and French theatres, the western allies never faced more than 10% of the Wehrmacht fighting strength and that was during the Battle of the Bulge. The US and GB did kick some major civilian ass by bombing Dresden.

How are you going to cast little midget Tom Cruise as a guy who in real life was some big ass german dude that didn't speak english?

he's supposed to speak german, not sound like jerry mcguire

that's so horrible. i can't believe they could release a film like that

I don't know it if was the best but it was pretty good.
Had a solid line up of actors but unfortunately the creepy moldy theater I saw it in will remain with me longer than the movie.

:worried:

a russian general's idea of clearing a mine field was to marcfh a regiment of tropps thru it.

I heard the way it is filmed is great.

It was.

Oddly enough we saw it in a small 1920's movie theater that still has much of its deco styling, small screen and terrible sound - which just add to the effect of the filming. (the mold and lights that wouldn't go out were just annoying)

We can say what we like about TC the person but he always comes through as an actor.

was one of the best fucking movies i have ever seen!!!!!!!!! I HIGHLY recommend you seeing it!

Tom Cruise just doesn't strike me as a believable Nazi. Also isn't the movie in....English? lol.

Der Untergang is a good Third Reich era movie.

That was an exceptionally bad review based primarily on a non understanding of WWII by the writer.

I suspect the reviewer's opinion of the acting is accurate but the screed about the Holocaust is historically inaccurate and childish.

What else is new in Western media lol.

In the beginning of the movie he speaks in german for a while, than somehow he changes into english for us to understand but makes us belive that the whole time it is in German.. the film is really good, dont bash it untill you see it

If Stalin was your Commander in Chief you would too. He "purged" most of his competent generals before the war, Zhukov was lucky because he was only banished to the east. :)

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAH sheot man, here comes a signal............... Tomkat says........... (let me pop a bubble, the wrap is too tight dammit)........... Tom says.................. He had to take a anti-depressant after he read some of the reviews............ he stating that if they don't like it....... "they can sucka his bunghole (weird Beavis noises in background)....... He wants to play beavis....... on broadway.............. and he wants............ hahahahaha he is saying he wants ........... he wants Jack Black to be butt head.......... HA HA!........ Jump on the couch everyone...... Oprah and Gail are happy............. They wanna part in the movie...... Moron Hubbard later.

I read that Pope John Paul II is considered the first Jew-friendly pope. The Holocaust probably had a lot to do with that.

There are many untold stories of that era. The Pianist is another good movie example.

I saw it last night but beforehand I got drunk off miller lite ice so I can't tell you much about the movie

seemed exciting though

He's good...when he acts as an American. I think that's where we can draw the line :)

I read about the plot and am curious. Gonna see it today.

Stauffenberg's part in the original plan required him to stay at the Bendlerstrasse offices in Berlin, from where he would phone regular Army units all over Europe and the Reich in an attempt to convince them to arrest leaders of Nazi political organizations such as the Sicherheitsdienst and the Gestapo. Unfortunately, he found himself forced to both kill Hitler far from Berlin and trigger the military machine in Berlin during the office hours of the very same day. He was the only conspirator who had regular access to Hitler (during his briefings) by mid-1944, as well as being the only officer among the conspirators who was considered to have the resolve and persuasive power to convince German military leaders to throw in with the coup once Adolf Hitler was dead.

Thus, in 1944, Stauffenberg, who by this time was promoted to Oberst (colonel), agreed to carry out the assassination of the German Führer, Adolf Hitler himself—a need that became further apparent to him after several suicide bombing attempts (e.g. those of Axel von dem Bussche and Ewald von Kleist) had failed. The attempt, after several trials by Stauffenberg to meet Hitler, Göring and Himmler at the same time and place, by chance, ultimately succeeded at a briefing hut at Wolfsschanze on 20 July 1944. Albert Speer had met Claus in some of the meetings near Berchtesgaden and in Eastern Prussia during summer 1944. He described the tall colonel in his memoirs as a person of "mystical good looks."

On 20 July 1944, Stauffenberg's briefcase contained two small bombs, each with a British-made pencil detonator that could be set with a ten- to fifteen-minute detonation delay. After having traveled that morning from Berlin to Eastern Prussia (now Poland) by a special plane, he entered the briefing room before Hitler had shown up. The meeting had unexpectedly been changed from the subterranean Führerbunker to Speer's wooden barrack/hut. He told Hitler's butler that he needed to change his shirt and thus left the meeting room, taking his briefcase with him. Once in a small room and in the presence of his aide-de-camp, Oberleutnant Haeften, Stauffenberg armed the first bomb with specially adapted pliers. The pliers were used to activate the pencil detonator, a task made difficult by Stauffenberg's not having a right hand and only having three fingers on his left hand. A guard knocked and opened the door, urging him to hurry as the meeting was about to begin. As a result, Stauffenberg was able to arm only one of the two bombs, which he placed back into the briefcase. He left the small room, handing the second, unarmed bomb in the briefcase to Haeften and returned to the briefing room, where he placed the briefcase under the conference table and as close as he could to Hitler. Some minutes later he excused himself, pretending to need to make an urgent phone call to Berlin and left the meeting room. He waited in a nearby shelter until the explosion tore through the hut. From what he saw, he was fully convinced that no one in the room could have survived. Although four people were killed and almost all survivors were injured, Hitler himself was shielded from the blast by the heavy, solid-oak conference table and was only slightly wounded.
Office at Bendlerblock

Stauffenberg and Haeften, who carried the second bomb, quickly walked away, talked their way out of the heavily-guarded compound, and were driven to the nearby airfield. On their way, they passed through a small forest and got rid of the second bomb. They then flew back to Berlin-Rangsdorf in the same Heinkel He 111 which had brought them in the morning, arriving at around 15.30 (3:30 p.m) and met there by his brother Berthold. While he was still in transit, an order was issued from the Führer's headquarters to shoot Stauffenberg and Haeften immediately, but the order landed on the desk of fellow conspirator Friedrich Georgi of the air staff, and was not passed on.

After his arrival at Bendlerstrasse in Berlin around 16.30 (4:30 p.m.), Stauffenberg, who still mistakenly believed Hitler to be dead, immediately began to motivate his friends to initiate the second phase of the project: to organize the military coup against the Nazi leaders. Joseph Goebbels announced by radio that Hitler had survived an attempt on his life. At 19:00, Hitler himself personally broadcast a message on the state radio, and the conspirators realized at that point that the coup had completely failed. The conspirators were tracked to their Bendlerstrasse offices and were overpowered after a brief shoot-out, during which Stauffenberg was shot in the shoulder.

Those guys were stupid.

I could've killed hitler in 24 hours by arming 3,000 jews and poles with machine guns, telling them where he was, giving them 50 trucks - and have them overpower the 30 guards and kill them all at 3 in the morning. Not like Hitler was hiding in the Mountains of Afghanistan or something :)

Seriously, how much of a resistence can 30 guards with rifles put up??? :)

Unfortunately, much of that time period is misunderstood and inaccurate. In some countries, it's even against the law to debate this time period.

yes throughout the whole movie you are thinking if you were there it could of been so easy to kill him... They knew they were dead if they failed anyways, someone could of made the ultimate sacrifice and pulled out a gun and shot him dead on the spot, at least then your name would ALWAYS be remembered in history books, against now you are just another attempt.. there is defenently a million other ways to go about this....

No shit. If Osama Bin Laden was in front of me, I would in 3.2 seconds put a bullet through him. Especially a trained soldier, who would spend even less time thinking about it. Sure you'd know you would die as well, but in the end - they died anyways. Except they died as failures.

15 *failed* attempts on his life. Meanwhile in the US, lone untrained losers with a sniper or pistol can take out Presidents.
