vacations post workout food

Hi everyone.
In augusth i will be out on vacations.
Most certainly i will not have whey around. How could i made a good post workout shake or meal using "regular" domestic things? Even if i get protein would it be ok to mix it with sugar for carbs? any ideas?

If you're on vacation can't you pack some whey protein in ziploc baggies in your suitcase? Or just buy premade drinks where you're going to work out? It really isn't that difficult to get protein powder unless you're going to a third world country or something and if so just bring some along. Assuming you don't workout 7 days a week then it wouldn't take that much whey to last you during your trips.

Also I wouldn't suggest pure sugar for the post workout drink. If you really want something simple just use honey and whey. Also if you can't get any type of protein you could always use a couple of cups of skim milk mixed with some honey. Wouldn't taste that great but it wouldn't be bad by any means.

Thank you Vageta.
yes, you're right. I will carry some whey with me. I hope at the airport they don't ask me if i carry anthrax or something...specially if if it is vanilla :D
Good to know that homemade postworkout drink, it might be useful.
So, i mix some honey with whey and the job is done.
Thanks

I travel periodically for work and I usually take protein powder and a small hand blender along. I usually put the powder in a small tupperware-type tub and have never been asked about it at the airport. I've also always put it in my checked baggage and never tried to carry it on. Of course you can always try to use bars too. I've always taken them in my carry-on bag.

If you are going to be in a hotel for a few days, ask for a room with a refrigerator when you make reservations. Many also have small microwave ovens. Its easy to hit the local store or hotel breakfast bar for things like fruit, carrots, yogurt (I blend it in with the protein) or even microwaveable meals that aren't too detrimental to your eating habits.

Enjoy your vacation!

Thanks B-Mac :-)

One question. Isn't honey mostly frutose? does frutose goes mostly to liver and isn't so good to replenish muscle glicogen?
