Using your opponents strength against him

Okay, I have trained in martial arts for about 7-8 years not much but I did learn alot, one thing I havent learned was how to use an opponents strength against him? Is it possible and if so post some examples that are there for me to understand this.

Grappling/wrestling is all about using your opponents strength against him and letting him over commit.

aikdo and judo use this principle in a major way.

for instance my best throw in judo is a shoulder throw and it looks like this:

it is a throw where i turn my back and throw the guy over me. one of the best ways for me to set this up is to push on my opponent and try to move him backwards.. as soon as he resists and pushes forward on me i allow him to push and pull him intowards me robbing him of his balance i can then turn and get underneath him and finish the throw much easier then if i simply just tried to pull him onto me

if you want more examples let me know.

bouncers need to know chokes and pins IMO and you normally dont have to worry about taking it to the ground cause hopefully you have others to watch out and gang up so basically you want to close the distance then take control.

let me know what you think

I like the different variations they have for chokes, especially for someone on the ground, and if I was ever on the ground, I usually just do a cartoid choke

When you are bouncing does most confrontations end up on the ground?

its probably the fastest and most effective for street fights.. it also does not require anything except his neck and your arms.. none of his arms, not your legs, not his clothing. and also allows you to maintain very good control of his neck/head and if you control the head you control the person.

also scares the crap out of most people

its happened but usually not,if someone gets violent and takes a swing,Ill get out of the way and get behind them and take their back and choke them out,I dont strike unless I run out of options because it looks bad.usually though we just get a guy on each arm wrist lock or arm behind the back and walk them out

good move..

do you have any formal training or just bouncers helping each other out?

I would think some aikido could help out a bouncer.
