Us vs The Untrained

Liberator

New member
Ever since I started bb, Ive grown big time, I mean I used to weight something stupid like 155lbs or something, now Ive gone from that to 197lbs 9% bf, I know this is not huge, but I havent been training all that long, but all ive heard is

"Damn your looking huge, are you on something?"

"why do you drink so much water, and whats that pink liquid stuff you keep drinking????"

"You know that excess protein will cause kidney damage and liver damage???"

"I wouldnt want to look like you, I just want to get cut have a nice chest and have nice abs"

"You should do cardio, you'll get fat otherwise or have a heart attack"

All of my friends, they go out at the weekend and drink into oblivion in the hope that they might fall onto the woman of there dreams, they are getting fat and look pathetic and weak.

I am getting stronger, more cutter, have more energy and feel awesome and dont drink, chics look at me like never before. Its da bomb.

It seems the comments just get more and more negative, what the fuck is wrong with people?

I love the way I look and I love liftin, its soooooooo addictive but I'm sick of putting up with all this shit everyday. I dont know anyone who works out like me, apart from you guys on here.

Cure=Get bigger and more cut...hehehehe...

Do you guys get this???? Do you feel you intimidate people?

Alot of people get this. I assume the negative comments come from men right? not the girls? If thats thats the case its called jealousy. They are making up excuses why they dont look as good as you even though they could if they wanted. Some of the comments you received might just be due to people trying to show that they know something about training....even if they dont (ie the dangerous protein one is a classic). You wouldnt believe the number of times I hear "I used to train and I was bigger/stronger than you, bit I had to quit because *insert feeble excuse*". That one makes me laugh all the time.

Where I work, most people weigh less than 140lb and are out of shape......thats what happens if you do nothing to keep fit except pushing the pencil that earns you your wage. People often tell me that they used to be intimidated by me.....before they got to know me. It takes time for them to figure out that I'm just a regular person who happens to like powerlifting.

yup, got asked today if i took protein and creatine, and 'i heard protein activates your body because its like a hormone and makes u grow' (well maybe the glutamine in it)....and what supplements are u taking...u must be taking some

the person in questiion wants to gain a stone while toning, and refuses to go to failure. they are kinda like me. i was looking fior a quick fix when i started, wanting to fill my face with pills. its only now i realise food is the only way to go for a beginner!

another friend of mine who hasnt been in the gym for 3 years maintains the reason he weighs 13 stone is he's naturally built and he built some muscle when he spent 1 day picking shells up of the sea shore. whoa.....im off to the coast....see ya

wish i was on ECA though...im porking up :(

when i first met my fiance's grandmother i was fat... now, after three HARD years spent in the gym, i always hear "you need to put some meat on your bones, you're too skinny"... (i'm not, i'm still trying to cut some fat actually)

i guess people just have different views of healthy... (it doesn't help that she has never left the island (barbados) and as she was growing up, being slim was associated with not eating enough which means you were poor...

everyone else is just jealous!!! :)

Yeah, jealousy is it big time, and yes it is all men that say it, they seem to make up any excuse to make out youve cheated or whatever to get the way you look. Some say its because Ive taken supplements, so what? If you stopped eating you would die, whats the damn difference?? At least we have the motivation to actually do it. With all that beer and crisps and shit they eat, it probably makes up double the calories I am eating anyway.

Blah blah blah

Phenomena, I think I saw one of your pics on the chat board (is that right?) and you look great, you definately are not skinny!!!

yeah, i've posted up there.... thanks! not sure if you seen my arms or just my abs... i posted my arms in a thread that smallmoves started... there are pics of gabby and madonna and my arms (not that i consider myself in the same class as those gals... got some work to do still :) )

i don't consider myself skinny either...

I saw the one under the post "my pic BE NICE" I think

It showed your abs and arms!!!!

Do you like the Geri Halliwell look in her new video (not raining men, the newone)

Lol, that is very funny.

Some people have amazing genetics, and never work out... all that potential going to waste

gabby body is not my goal, i'm looking to be a little more muscular and cut... she has a great body, don't get me wrong... i'm just addicted to the muscles :)

OMG I HATE THAT! Yeah i think im the only one who trains as much as i do too. People always think im fat and stuff.. i don't know why, when the shirt comes off. i got girls jumping into my arms and onto me, literally. They all love my arms, its rediculous, :D

i think a lot of people are jealous and they directly think that you're on AS just because you are big and work you're ass of every day and eat like a horse.

i get asked almost everyday what I'm on people look at me a certain way when I'm training in the gym but i guess you have to take that as a compliment and i do, so i don't mind, if they want to belive that I'm using well io don't care i know I'm not and that is all that matters :)

The one I love is, "I'd work out, too - but I don't want to get big."

Like any of these people have any idea of what kind of work, dedication, commitment, education, discipline and diet is required to gain noticable mass.

BTW - you look grrreeat!

hey yeah... this happened last week at the gym... see well im kinda antisocial when it comes to working out and well this one guy who i always saw started talking to me... he introduced himself and was like, you seem really dedicated going to the gym everyday, and i was like "yeah i am" then he asked how old i was and i'm like 16, he was like "WHAT!, i don't belive it" yeahhh he thought i was like 20.... lol he was like "damn your arms and chest are way to fucking big for someone 16" haha yeahhhh i loved that, i laughed too cuz i can lift more than him :D

~WizKid :kaioken:

lol,
I think everyone on this board gets that!!
I know i do, you just keep working out.
I wanna go to the gym ,see if i can lift more than anyone!!

I am female, and the only negative comments (or dirty looks :D ) I've ever gotten are from other females. (Most often it's the skinny-fat chicks who are the worst.) Some women are very complimentary, but most just don't say anything. The most sincerely complimentary are males, even ones that don't work out. And it's not just wolf-whistles, but genuine compliments from all ages, teens to seniors!

In the last 4 months I have gained 15lbs, most which is muscle; I was 8% bf before and still am.

But start of this year I was about 178, I radically changed my diet at the end of last year then got serious on the bodybuilding diet this year.

Get your diet right and your training, keep ontop of it, dont let it go stale, if something stops working for you, dont blindly follow it, change it.

CONSISTANCY is the only way I have gained what I have so far.

Ignore negative people, most of all.

I hate that. I get it every friggen day. Why do you eat every three hours? Why do you torture yourself at the gym? You should push yourself like that? i hate it so much. People just dont realize what it takes to get a nice body. You cant just suck down a pill and the next day get jacked. People need to get a life and stop getting fat. Cause as i get more cut and more ladies my fat friends are out at night looking for the 25 cent hoes.hahha

lol, thanks

I'd just done a heavy set of wrist curls giving me serious fatigue and as a result my coordination and typing ability was greatly reduced, fatigue hit an all time high just as I went to type "cut" and the result was "cutter"

honest

Wow phemomena...saw your pics..you look wonderful!

I must be getting bigger because I've been going to different gyms lately because I moved recently and I've been trying to pick a good one, and the reactions...

...the skinny guys look at me and whisper to each other...it is kinda funny...and a compliment, lately...since then they look at me and try to copy my exercise form...I think they want to know more but are afraid to ask me.

Sometimes the women are weird...some gyms have their established 'gym girls' who don't really welcome me because I'm bigger and more cut (usually) than they are...it doesn't take much to be bigger or more cut than anyone in Chicago, though...the MidWest is known for Beer, Beef, and Cheese, for heavens sake!

The other girls who are not trained just zone out for their two hour cardio session anyway...and run away from me in fear that muscles are contagious. HA!

After reading this thread, I will forever think of those people as "The UNTRAINED" ones.

thanks!!!

i know exactly what you mean, my gym is full of all those people that you speak of...

take these these two girls for example... they were literaly gauking at me the other day when i was doing shoulders... they were a little on the bigger side, wearing outfits a little on the smaller side, you know the type... i just felt like telling them that if they worked out for half as long as they'd been staring at me, they might look half as good as me... LoL... i didn't, i'm not that mean, but they were just looking and wispering and gauking and wispering some more...

what a pathetic joke... then they found some guy that would pay attention to them and thankfully left me alone to concentrate my weights... i'm not self conscious or anything, but i hate that feeling that someone's eyes are glued to you... i try not to break my concentration, but sometimes its hard... i swear i'll go off on someone someday...

oh, don't even get me started with the males who feel they have to prove something and want to compete with little 110lb me... what idiots...

oh well, such is life... just gotta say f*&K it and lift...

My favorite one is the "ya know women dont like those big muscles on your neck right so why do you try to get them bigger?" Of course he is talking about my traps. The two areas of my I get complimented most on by women at first sight are my arms and my shoulder area. They say it makes me look powerfull and women like powerfull men.

My advice to the lad who started this thread. If those people who are giving you the negative feedback are supposed to be your friends get new ones that will fit better into your chosen lifestyle. Everyone in my personal life works out pretty much. Instead of bar hoping it is grilling out and watching movies with an occasional glass of wine or beer, but we certainly fill the grill with beef to cook and eat. That is what we find fun especially after a two in a day consisting of the weights then cardio. Trust me it works better with friends who are in the same lifestyle you are.
