The most likely explanation here is actually the most typical one as well.

Simply put the h.c.g. is doing what it is suppose to do and that is boosting hormone levels. Sudden influx and rapid increase in the current levels will almost always throw your body off kilter for a day or two.

Which is why a lot of people get the test flu the first week or so after starting a cycle.

The flu is going around here. He may be sick for other reasons.
