Urgent computer help needed

I have a problem in that someone other than me has being using my pc.I have to find exactly what sites they browsed thru and at exactly what times they did this.They erased all recent history files,how do i find out what they were looking at on the web?


It is very very important that i be able to find this out.

there's lots of free programs that'll do this for you. Which OS are you using? Do you want to stop them from accessing certian websites or you just want to spy on them?

It's someone who was staying here in the house for a while.I know that they were surfing porn sites which is fine,but i also strongly suspect that they were trying to log on to child porn from my pc.I need to know for certain what they did.

[USERNAME] = whatever account they used.

Just do a "find files" for *.jpg and *.gif

If they were surfing porn, you'll see a lot of evidence there.

also pretty much every site sends cookies so check your cookies. each cookie will tell you what website it came from. I got a bunch of crazy shit on mine.

No,it's neither friend nor relative.It's some prick my brother felt sorry for and allowed him to crash at the house for a few days because he had nowhere to go.I don't really want to get in to who he was or why he was even there in the first place,I'm just trying to be certain he wasn't using my pc to look at that shit.

I've gone thru the tempoary internet files file and I also went thru the cookies file,a lot has been deleted in the last 10 days or so from these files.It took me along time to go thru these files.


How do I get what has been deleted back?

You can buy forensic software if it means that much to you. I know if I thought someone had put child porn on my computer, I'd be using a disk utility to do a low level format, and then I'd probably destroy the drive, not go looking for it.

Destroying my hard drive is a last resort,I don't know for certain what he was looking at.I'm hoping he's trying to hide looking at gay porn or something.

I dont want to sound like I'm being unsensitive here, but why go throught all the trouble? do a search fro *.jpg, *.jpeg, *.gif and delete all of the entries that you find that exist in temp folders. Follow that link to the fuck ms page, and delete those history files as well.

Bottom line is that even if this guy was surfing kiddie porn for a few days the authorities are not likely to come looking for you. Now lets hypotheticly say they were going to bust a site that he looked at, your IP address will be logged on their web server, and they can supeona your ISP to verify your MAC address. So even if you dont have any evidence on your machine of the porn, they still know that at one point you viewed it form that machine.

BUT- with everything going on in the world right now, do you really think they would waste all that time, money, and effort to come and make one arrest? They most likely would just shut the site down, seise their computer gear, and sell it at auction...and everyone goes home happy.

I wouldnt be sweating this one out if I were you...
