Update on my murdered mentor :*(

He knew the guy for 20 years. This kid was mentored by him as well it seems.
In my opinion this makes the crimes a thousand times worse. This wasn't a burglary gone wrong done by someone who didn't know how special Dr. D was. He knew how beloved Dr. D was and still killed him. The guy was a serial car thief. He was paroled 1 month before the murder. This guy was supposed to be in jail until 2009. Too bad they decided he was ready to reenter society

This guy lead a life of service, and has given no evidence to doubt that.

Just when I give you good K.......please note the killer was on parole for serial car theft. not saying that equates to a killer but he wasnt exactly a boy scout to begin with. add in that its oakland and hes automatically 10X worse.

Just that it's such a messed up thing to imply about such a good person.

I just don't see this guy consistently staying in contact with him for 20 yrs if that were the case. Dr. D sought out the most troubled of people, saw the good beneath the surface, and believed people could change. Even when we didn't believe in ourselves, he believed in us harder. He's changed many, many lives.

Dr. D knew of the dangers of his work and didn't let it deter him. He taught a course on death and dying. He had a very good understanding/outlook on death.
I'm sure he wouldn't want me moping around.

that's how people act in low income areas. Clearly they don't care. Most young folks there glamorize that lifestyle, and brag about it in songs.

Don't feel sorry for them. Humans need to be responsible for their own actions. Remember, no one feels sorry for you.

Good point. It's just harder to face a septic tank bursting in your own front yard than in the next state. Either way it's all really shitty.
