Well, I've just been laid off and am about to file for unemployment for the first time ever.
Anybody ever done this? Any tips for making it easier? ANy tips at all?
I got fired in January. My unemployment just ran out. You can apply and do everything by phone. Look up your state's unemployment office on the web for instructions.
Its no biggie....being laid off your company won't contest.
Just go down to the local office.
Can find that in the goverment pages of the phone book and sign up.
They have several things there to help you.
They run boards like hotjobs and monster.
Get on them.
Also get a counsiler...they have inside jobs.
The big auto makes in my area only hire from the UE offices.
Other than that...make three job contacts a week and report once a month.
Might as well go to school and learn something while collecting unemployment....this is what my stepdad is doing currently now that he got layed off...ask them about there student programs
