Ortiz -vs. Belfort........was gonna be a great fight but now Ortiz says he's injured so the fights off. I'm pissed, I've been waiting to see Belfort take him out early too.

Oh well.....it'll still be a good event, Couture's gonna fight now.

Ahhh, Tank......he brings back memories. I think what happened to him was that the overall pool of talent just got too good for such a street brawler like him. Not that I could even take him out or anything, unless I was able to get him to the ground but thats not the point. I just think he was eventually weeded out by the number of people that were trying to get into the octagon, or maybe he got knocked the fuck out one too many times.

Ortiz's trainer/mentor originally recruited him as a sparring partner for Abbot back in the day. Both of them are from Huntington Beach - so that quiet, little surfer town is not the place to indiscriminately pick a bar fight.


I bumped into Abbot (literally) one nite at a bar in Huntington. I turn around all buzzed, look down, and say "sorry dude". Turned and looked at the pic on the wall behind the bar, walked away and realized who I had bumped into. F'in great.

I like UFCV better just cause there is not as many damn Japanese wrestlers... Plus you cant understand what the fuck the announceer says cause it is always in Hiroshima or some shit.

That sucks about Ortiz and Belfort, Belfort would have gotten in his ass though.

He doesnt have all the hype but he is a much more solid fighter. Ortiz sucks on his feet IMO.

yeah but in Pride they jump straight to the matches. no bullshit buildup and pre fight hype. Sometimes they jump to each match so quick you don't even know what kind of fighting style each guy has, which really blows when you've got a bunch of people at someones house betting on fights (yeah we're a bunch of tools).

Belfort is a bad mofo, I've seen him pretty much put beat the shit out of Tank Abbott.

When the Ortiz fight is rescheduled, I have no doubt that Belfort will pull out the win. His punches are much quicker when standing than Ortiz's, who's lack of abilitywhile on his feet are gonna be determined when he faces Belfort. I agree with addickt in that Belfort isn't as hyped up as Ortiz, so watch for the upset.

In UFC fights Vitor is 5-1, with 2 of his 5 wins by tapout. In Pride events, he's 4-1 but I haven't watched any of those fights to tell his outcomes there.

I agree with that aspect, but I can't get Pride on PPV so it's only UFC for me, but it's what I've been watching for the past 6 years so I don't really miss the fact that I can't get Pride.
