U.S. Journalist Daniel Pearl is Dead

sad but the captors were just trying to play it out as long as they could

i dont think there will be any military action....rest assured pakistan probably wont do much

Now is the time for government action. It is time we show the world our barbaric side.. yes Ryan will say this has been done. But we could erase the middle east with the push of a button.

fire it up.

I hope something good can come out of this very pointless death. What that might be, I would not know.

May peace be with his family and friends.

How do you propose we do this? Fundamentally, I agree that something must be done, but I fear that pursuit of extremists loosely affiliated with al-Quada will be nothing more than a never ending game of Whack-a-Mole.

pakistan would never allow the US to go after extremists within their own country.....it would seriously be bad PR for them

as sad as this death was, he was a journalist. HE went to pakistan, a country full of nutjobs of his own free will

i would NEVER set foot in that country if i was a US journalist (and probably never will anyway)

as brutal as that murder was, murders over here have happened. a 12-14 yearold child was beaten and burnt to death here on monday

he was so badly burnt and beaten, they could only ascertain he was asian, short and skinny and within that age group.

one murder doesnt attones for another...but it is happening in both countries :( there are extremist group over here who are allowed to operate. the same is true over there :(

Dimi ...

We can't find Osama. So then what? (And thanks for the link to a page with a 7 meg flash animation! Good thing I've got my novel to write.)

This so sucks. I'm not sure what we can do as a country, but we can't let shit like this happen. I feel the same as I did 9/11--if we have to level the place and everyone in it to get to the responsible parties starting with the families of those responsible, let's do it. No one can bring back Daniel Pearl or the people we cared about who died 9/11, but we can sure as hell make it clear that we don't tolerate or negotiate with terrorists. We also can make sure that terrorists know if they screw with us they will pay a price more horrible than they can ever imagine, so they shouldn't even think about it.

Like Dballer said, we can level that whole area with the push of a button.

We should just nuke the whole area and set an example...

Kill them all, they do nothing good for us anyway...

I'll be shocked if we ever find Osama, after all the first terrorist bastard to kill Americans is still free after 20+ years. We need to finish one thing before we start fucking with other shit.

It's tragic that Daniel Pearl was murdered. However, it would be rediculous for us to retaliate. Retribution for 9/11 can be justified, but using military action for ONE man who obviously accepted the potential risks invovled when reporting from a war zone is not.

It is a terrible thing that happened to that poor guy, and I feel especially bad for his poor wife. Hopefully the government will see to it that she is well taken care of.

I do have to agree with what danielson and Mr. ? said. Retaliation for the death of this guy would not be a solid move. That reporter went on a journalism mission that basically said "come kill me." I'm surprised his wife actually let him go over there and try to interview whoever it was that he was supposed to. You can imagine some of the things our military has done to Al Qaeda fighters that you will never hear about. Things like this happen all over the world. You can't expect us to break out the stealth bombers and had out beatdowns over this.

I hope our military tortures every single one of them down in cuba. I hope they trick them and feed them all pork. If i was there i would get every stinking towel head a fuckin beating with a bat every day...Just a small one so they will stay conscious and feel the pain...Then ill do that everyday until i kill them...Execution style

The kidnapping and murder of Pearl should no longer be of concern. As supersizeme said this is often occurence with media war correspondences. Large numbers of American civilians are kidnapped and murdered for ransom every year in Mexico, Central/South America and other hostile territories, yet we don't seek retribution or hear of it in the media.

My sister was in Packistan a few days before 9/11. From what she told me it's a very, very dangerous place. There is little regard for human life in general, and for the lives of foreigners in particular.

Anyway, my sis and her group had armed guards with them most of the time. I doubt Mr. Pearl did.

we wont find him. anyone who says we will doesnt have a clue. first he was all we wanted, now rumsfield says it doesnt matter if we catch him. what changed? if the entire us/cia/un was wanted obl, they would have him, fast.

remember the first time we heard of him? when clinton was under all the heat for committing purgery. thats convenient.

lets prosecute john walker and give him the death penalty. that will make the world a safer place. obl, omar, they really are not that important, but walker, he is an "american taliban." i want to spend my tax dollars getting rid of him.

pearl's widow and child are in my prayers.

god bless.

Sorry Rockafella Skank, but I seem not to have a problem downloading things like this. I guess I will not give these site out anymore.

At this point... I honestly would condone the US moving in and taking over the entire middle east region and restructuring it with a coalition NATO government. Sure, thousands of troops will die, but I only see this getting worse long before it gets better.

SAS soldiers are reportedly hunting for Osama bin Laden in Kashmir.

It follows intelligence reports he is being protected by an extremist Islamic group there.

The troops are said to be taking part in a joint 40-man operation with their United States equivalent, Delta Force.

It is believed bin Laden is in hiding in the disputed state of Kashmir, which has been the centre of heightened tension between India and Pakistan in recent months.

The decision to send British special forces followed a trip to India, Pakistan and Afghanistan by Prime Minister Tony Blair and a similar visit by US Secretary of State Colin Powell, The Daily Telegraph reported.

Indian intelligence reports told the CIA it was believed bin Laden was being given protection by the Islamic guerilla group Harkat-ul-Mujahideen, the newspaper said.

The group may have smuggled bin Laden from Afghanistan during the US bombardment of the country into a remote area of Kashmir.

A spokesman for the Ministry of Defence said: "We never discuss the activities of the special forces."

Danielson,

This proves nothing. Not exactly sure what conclusion you are trying to arrive at, regarding Pearl.

no conclusion really intended....just more of a shit happens statement :(

VicTusDeuS nuking them would be great but effects of nukes will be felt world wide and why hurt innocent people when it is not needed,we should just occupy the middle east so that this shit wont happen as often, yes there will be strong resistance but once nato and the stronger powers took over this shit would end

I know nuking isnt the answer, it would get into the atomisphere and we would feel the effects. Putting a stronger force in there might help, but it might not. Whos side do we take, who do we fight who do we protect?? Do overthrow every leader in all the countries or just target some. Many of these islamic country have militant forces so my guess is to go after them all. Meanwhile they have people here killing our civilians.
We cannot be everywhere at the same time. My reasoning to use a nuke is just to get it over and done with as fast as possible. We need to set an example so other countries or groups wont tey any more terrorist attacks...Speak softly but carry a big stick.

its very hard to say who to go after,id reccomend them all, maybe the military should employ more people, mandatory inlistment so that we can protect north america and the middle east,i agree the faster the better is the best way to end it,but i believe this will still be a battle on going long after my time, but nato and the u.s will not give up
