Two-a-days...

Whats up guys. I know many of you here are powerlifters, but I was just wondering what you all think about two-a-day training sessions. I'm prepping for a show right now and two-a-days are pretty much my bread and butter sicne it's 2 separate occasions throughout the day to accelerate my metabolism, plus it allows less time in the gym each session (instead of one long one) which on low calorie/low carb diets is pretty important to minimize excessive free radical production and further muscle breakdown. I wanted to know if any of you do (or have done) twice daily sessions, and if so, do you prefer to work totally un-related bodyparts in AM and PM, or ones that are, say, antagonists or somewhat related. For example, this morning I did delts and cardio, PM will be traps, calves, and more cardio. I can't seem to split up legs with 2 workouts because of the way I squat (deep). I can't hit hams in the PM just because they're so sore from the AM, so unfortuantely quads and hams can't be split.

I'm open to any advice/experiences. Thanks.

Hmmm...

I think if you posted this in the ladies forum you'd have tons of great advice, unless they wander over here... or you get some male competitors to post here.

I think the majority of competitors are woman at Elite as of recently preping for shows, ect.

I know Bunny has done two a days before.

Mak, Needsize, Quadsweep are a few of the bros off the top of my head that compete (or diet down to low single digit BF) in BB.

I've done 2 a days with the AM session for light olympic lifts/bar complexes, cardio, abs, calves. Then the real lifting session later in the evening.....Say 5 AM and back at the gym for 5 PM.

i'd love to try am & pm sessions myself, but at the moment i'm too hard pressed for time. one session would probably be heavy or heavier (maybe AM) and the other would be light and more for cardio (kind of - it'll be more of weights, maybe complexes and some short duration high intensity cycling/treadmill/jump rope).

for my last show my trainer had me training 2x daily with cardio and weights both times, 5 days a week, and it worked really well
