Tuna

I absolutly hate TUNA, but it's really good for you and high in protien.

Does anyone know a way to prepare, or cook, or add to tuna so that the taste will go away as much as possible??

I'm thinking of tossing a can of tuna in a blender with tabasco sauce and taking like a drink - my logic is that to the best of my knowledge, nothing takes the taste of tuna away, by that token, nothing kills every other taste like tabasco sauce!

tuna's like kitty--
an "acquired taste" :-O

i hate tuna aswell.i eat 2 cans a day and the only thing i have found to get it down without the bad taste is to eat it with low sodium ritz crackers.for some reason the crackers delute the bad taste.i eat a cracker and them a big bite of tuna,i repeat until im done.so give it a try

I cant stand eating tuna out of a can. All I can taste is the sodium. Once it's rinsed it loses a lot of flavor. Then I heat it up with brown rice and black beans (also rinsed first). Tastes pretty good, but then I dont mind it plain. BTW rinsing it before eating eliminates about 40% of the sodium.

I never touched Tuna because frankly anything that smells like that can't taste good. When I started a lifting diet about a month ago I decided "lets try it, it can't be that bad". First time I've ever wanted to burp up food before. For me its chicken canned in water.

Get the tuna that comes in the package, not in the can. And STAY AWAY from tuna in water. It smells just like canned cat food.
The tuna in the package also comes in a variety of marinated flavors, i.e. zesty lemon pepper, etc.
You can also get the tuna in the package with olive oil in it to get the healthy fats.
Try putting melted cheese and pepper in it. Or low-fat ranch dressing really takes the tuna taste away.

yeah those are really tasty! i suggest you give those a shot. my favorite is the smoked hickory....good stuff ;)

Try ''albacore solid white''... its not even the same fish. Tastes 1,000 times better. Has no horrible stink and is not shreddy and smelly pink, it looks alot like canned chicken.

I agree, I had the same problem, then my wife told me to try Albacore solid white, and its Way better than the nasty regular stuff!

The albacore tuna is the only way to go. Has the same amount of protein per serving as the regular tuna but tastes much better. Also, there is a roast beef in a can and I can not think of the name of it but it is made in Brazil. It has 66 grams of protein in each can. It taste pretty good. I usually eat it in a bowl with some low fat saltine crackers. As soon as I buy another can, I will post the name of it.

Peace,

At over 26g of quality protein and at less than 50 cents a can, I have learned to "love" the taste straight out of the can baby!

in the last week, ive come to prefer switching albacore to regular. Albacore at work and pink at home. For some reason the albacore is starting to make me sicker when I eat it. Kind of makes me gag now. Maybe its the fact that im at work and nothing tastes good at work or the fatc that the albacore is more solid therefor takes more chewing and longer to finish the can. Albvacore is still not yummy tho. I seem to fly thru the reg kind in a flash and that kinda makes up for the inferior flavor.

i totaly dissagree with the "zesty" or other tunas. i hate them very much. some days when i cant stand the tast of tuna i eat it with drinking coffee it out powers the tuna.

albacore tuna, but i put honey mustard dressing on it, i know its high in fat, but it makes it taste so much better

I love tuna anyways, I eat about 4 cans a day, straight with nothing on it or anyting, once it dries out my mouth, I just add a little water and it goes right down!!! gotta love it

Ok a little bit about me.. i love fish nometter what kind. I always had the urge to eat raw fresh fish from the river one day with blood dripping all over. Have u ever seen a polar bear or a grizzly fish. Man they look awesome. Anyways, I like tuna, i eat from a can or any other way. My GF thinks i am an alien or something. Anyhoo this is how i usually prepare my Tuna when i have time. Get some flaked tuna, onion flavoured. Take it out of the can and then mix it up with some mustard and myainnese(god i don't know how to spell myainesee) or mail. Then some black peppers to top that. If u are a salt person like me, make it salty and make it a sandwich. Eat and enjoy. As far as drinking tuna shake with tabassco sauce. God now i have heard of everything!!!

I find that if you add medium salsa and chopped up lettuce it, itmakes the tuna almost enjoyable (notice I said ALMOST).

Another way to eat tuna is to buy a tuna steak in the vacuum pack at your grocery store --- mine has them in various sizes for about $3 each --- then cook to doneness preferred and make into a tuna salad or add to green salads or whatever....the fresh tuna makes a world of difference....

The pouches of tuna seem to be a bit of better quality also....the pouches of salmon are tasty too....

well sushi grade tuna is filleted on the boat and flash frozen to below -50 F
at that point there is no macular breakdown
and as long as properly thawed it is almost identical to fresh at sea

it is the only way sushi chefs use it
and they are perhaps the only ones more finicky at seafood than i am

30 seconds per side

Wow that got off topic slightly! haha
It was supposed to be about how to manage slithering it down WHEN YOU HATE IT!.

However alot of good came outa it.
Thanks guys.

I haven't cracked the can of tuna yet, BUT I am eating tinned salmon... about 30g per tin i figure. And jsut as cheap as tinned tuna.

MY reciep for this, and hasn't done me wrong yet.

BBQ sauce. Any kind will do. Heinz does nicely!!
Drain the fish, mush it up to get all the juice out in a strainer.
Just load it up, and it tastes like you're eating mushed up BBQ chicken!

Anyother suggestions on how else to get enough protein!?

Just before you eat the tuna, staple your sack to your leg with a framing gun.

The taste will no longer matter.

Its all about the hot sauce. If you can fin siracha hot sausce it works best. I take lettuce or a tortia and some black beans and I wrap it up and I am good to go! You can mix match whatever you want. Mustard also works to get rid of the taste.

Fresh tuna. Instawood.
