Tuna and sodium

New member
Who uses tuna while cutting...I've always used it but a friend said it has to much sodium...Its about 250mg sodium per can.

What do you diet gurus think...

I try to stick to chiocken but sometimes its just so eay to open a can of tuna and chow down.

Ya Georgie your right... no wonder I feel like a f**king water baloon

When I eat 3 cans a day thats 1275..

I don't eat the canned tuna when dieting. I actually consume much more lean red meats. However, when I'm bulking my sodium intake is so high from all the food I have to eat it doesn't matter, I'm very sensitive to sodium.

Sodium in tuna can be a problem, depending on your sensitivity to it. I eat canned tuna while dieting, but it makes up a fairly low percentage of my entire meat protein intake. Chicken is #1, lean red meat #2. But I think tuna a few times a week is ok. It's still a great, lean, cheap protein source. And, if it's any help, water retention from high sodium levels is a very temporary condition. That water goes away within a matter of a day or two once sodium levels are significantly lowered.
