Triceps: A New Exercise

Atomic Punk

Never tried it but my gym has a hammer strength machine that gives a similar motion. You sit down and grip the handles on the sides and push down. You can place your hands behind your body position, similar to this move, or slid them more forward like in a dip.

I tried that exercise back in the day when Soloflex was out. I bought one and the exercise was one of the routines. It worked decent but only after my triceps were already pre-exhausted. It is a decent finisher..

I used to do those with the stack and maybe a 25-45 added on. Was a while ago when I trained with my uncle on and off. We'd have to get the weight down first, then one of us would hold it while the other got in position. Its a good exercise, but I cant do a decent amount of weight unless I have a spotter to hand it off. Since I train alone most always, Id have to ask around for a spot. Good exercise though.

It looks funtionally identical to weighted dips.

re: Walking Beast's comment - Yeah, this one would be a pain in the buttocks without a spotter unless you can get on a small ladder.

Its just like dips guys....I bet the guy in the pic has never worked out his triceps like that.

Keep it simple, keep it compound, keep your muscles growing!

i would never try it, looks like there is too much risk of injury, if you couldnt handle the weight for a rep and it launched up, it would really mess yer shoulders up, i would stick to dips.

It looks too ackward, and you would never be able to use enough weight to get your reps very low, because your resistance would always have to be less than your body weight. Dips would be a better choice.

"Have someone assist you by lowering the bar so you can grab it."

meaning I would have to ask some guy- therefore turning a 5 minute exercise into a 30 min. one....no thanks- lol.
