i havn't used the rope. i do them one handed on the cable set-up though. i also do tricep extensions with both hands on a single dumbbell, but that's getting phased out with the one hand pressdown. might keep both in the routine, not sure yet.
any advantage to doing them with the rope over doing them single handed?
I love tricep pushdowns/pressdowns (which one is it? lol) with the rope.
I don't know why cable exercises get such a bad rap because to me cable work hits my triceps the best. Coincidently, my tris are one of my best bodyparts.
Overhead tricep extension with the rope on cable machine is another one of my favourite tri exercises. I always do these 2 exercises and either close grip bench (or reverse close grip bench) or heavy heavy french press with dumbell.
Crak600, of all the different handles the rope is by far the most difficult. Problem with single hand cable pushdown is that you can't do a lot of weight unlike doing it two handed. I've found that my triceps respond much better to heavy heavy explosive movements.

my whole tricep routine is based solely on the machine unless i got a workout partner. tricep pulldowns with rope, then over head extensions with rope. then one armed reverse pull downs for the inner head. wow im sore the next day
