Tricep Cable Push Downs: Which Bar?

So, there are dozens to choose from. I'm sure (somehow) they all do a little differently. What are the pros and cons of each bar?

I haven't found any difference in using any of the bars except for how it feels on the wrists. The straight bar bothers my wrists for some reason, so I don't use it. I use the z bar and the rope. Using the rope, make sure you turn your wrists out at the bottom and hold it for a second or two.

i think the rope is the best for isolating the tris especially when you push out at the end for that extra pinch. The straight bar isn't bad but i have the same deal as rbtrout with the wrists. I like the V handle too. Ever do reverse pushdowns? try it sometime

I use the handle shaped like a V and sometimes I'll do reverse pulldowns with the straight bar

Doesn't really matter as long you lift a shitload of plates

I did them today with the v Bar. I have a question. Do you face the weight stack or do you put your back against the pad of the machine facing away from the weight stack? I faced it today, and it was pulling me up and into the machine. It didn't of course but my traps got a work trying to stabalize myself and keep me from flying. haha. What are your thoughts on the "pull.''

use the rope instead and you can do it facing the machine or agianst it. if i use the rope i'd rather face away but i do it both ways. if you have too much weight on and aren't doing it correctly and strictly you won't get as good of gains in your tris. tris require good form

I was doing it facing the machine, with a v-bar, and with heavy weights (for me). I did sets of 5.

I wouldnt do the rope pushdowns till the end of my tricep workout.

I think the v-bar is better for overall mass as it hits most of the heads better while the rope will shift emphasis to the outter head.

The only attachment I ever use when facing the away from the weight stack is the rope. I use the cable columns a lot for triceps -- love them.
