what if i tore the medial head, would i still have some range of motion ?

not trying to workout, just wondering is it possible to only tear the medial head ? because i've been told that if i tore my tricep i would have NO movement......but it seems that if i only tore the medial head, i might still be able to have some range of movement because of the remaining to heads????

Yes you will still have movement. It's funny but we just repaired a tricep tendon this past week. It is kind of like tearing your bicep. If you tear your bicep tendon from its proximal attachment, meaning from the shoulder, your inner and outer head will still continue to function and give you a decent range of motion. However if you tear the bicep from its insertion into the radial head, meaning elbow then we would go in and surgically fix that. Same thing applies to the tricep. distal tears, or avulsions, are rather rare in both situations. Weather or not it should be fixed or not also depends on your age and and how physically fit you are. My dad ruptured his bicep a few years back from the shoulder. He is very active even though he is in his 70s. he has had no problem with it since and opted to do nothing to it. He has been fine ever since, with just a bit of strength loss in his left arm. This is a similar injury Dorian Yates had to his tricep before his last Olympia contest. He was a totally different scenario, obviously and had to have his fixed. You will probably hear many Drs say different things, but if you can get along without an operation, then I would probably go that route. Hope this helped you out. Stay strong!

latamier, finally the doctors have reviewed my last m.r.i's ....i've been informed that i tore
the muscle from the tendon and that muscle doesn't hold suture well....my doctor said that down time will be at least 6 months after surgery......does that sound right?
