Treadmill vs. Eliptical

for what goals hun??? need to be specific. I like the elliptical since it is easier on my knees and the one we have goes on an incline and you can increase the resistance. But it all depends on what you want

I feel I can get a much more efficient workout with the elliptical, and being able to set resistance in addition to incline really makes a difference...plus I hate running :)

I personally like the elliptical better. If you have problems with you knees or shins hurting after a run on the treadmill the elliptical is definately better that seems to be an issue with some people. It doesn't jar you as much as the tread mill does.

for me-- treadmill-- I do HIT program, run incline, walk incline holding plates-- & run sprints-- which is more sports-specific for me (I play soccer).

I prefer the treadmill, but I use the elliptical as well, because it's good to have variety.

If you do use the elliptical, don't just hold on to the supports the whole time (like I see so many people doing). Move your arms like you're running - it's more challenging and good for balance. Some ellipticals have the moveable ski pole things, but I don't really like using those.

I could never run on the treadmill because it killed my knee. The eliptical has solved that problem for me. My knee absolutely never bothers me after the eliptical.
