I've been hitting my traps with shoulders since I've been working out and I've noticed some gains but nothing like I expect with the size of my lats and back.. I do plenty up shrugs w/ dumbells and striaght bar, also do upright rows too.. Jus wondering what ya'll thought would be best.. They need to be bigger!!

You are right, so many exercises do hit the traps.

SO:

Hit the traps in BOTH workouts and BEAST THEM UP!!!

Seriously, my traps are always sore from deads, rows, cleans, presses, upright rows, heavy laterals...

Not to mention shrugs - I only bother with them if I've not had sore traps that week.

Markus Rhul says that if you are white, then traps are even more important to give you the right look. Dont know why...? He hits his traps 2-3 times a week and everything else just once.
 
Doesnt seem to matter much aslong as you train them seperately. Ive done them with shoulders and with back. I would do between 8-12 sets with them to failure atleast once a week. Very heavy but still up to 12-15 reps. Mostly dumbbell and barbell shrugs. Traps are a muscle that can be trained more frequently. Just like calves,abs and forearms. So twice a week, once on shoulders and maybe once on back day would probabally give some good results. Strange thing about traps for me is, they even got large when my diet sucked and the rest of me was skinny. At one point traps was all I really had. Still the more food you consume the better. High protein and carbs. Keeping the diet too clean is also another reason I believe people dont see good gains. Another issue though! KEEP KILLING THAT SHIT!!
