hey guys i have noticed that my traps no matter what i do will not form a triangular shape...they are quite large and are a mass on top of my shoulders but im lookng for that angled look, what exercises do you guys do to concentrate on that area because im definitely missing something

i provided a pic below, currently i only have the red area but would like to obtain the blue

EDIT: FYI - I can't see your pic so if you have some deformity I have no way of knowing. The below is generic but in every imaginable case will still apply.

You can't shape a muscle, you can only grow it. If your trap forms a rectangle at the top there's nothing that can be done other than make it a bigger or smaller rectangle.

This thread, post #14, the final link, provides some info on how to perform the powershrug. You'll need to go to the link in that post and read from that point on as the description is contained in a longer thread (it won't take longer than a few minutes though). Assuming you are pulling (ie deadlift) and rowing (barbell row) this is probably the best trap specific exercise there is. It's an overloaded short version of the clean pull. Start light and work up over a period of weeks. I never recommend high reps but this works well for 3x10-15 twice a week. http://www.elitefitness.com/forum/showthread.php?t=375215
