Training while cutting?

memnoch

New member
I have decided to start cutting in a few weeks. I have been doing Max-OT while bulking and its worked really well but I know I need to switch for cutting. What would some of you guys recommend? Any thoughts and ideas are appreciated.

Why would you train differently while cutting?? Whatever works for you while bulking you should do when dieting. Your training should not change at all besides the addition of cardio.

Your diet is what will need adjusting not your weight training.

I guess I'm just worried about pushing heavy heavy weight while I'm in a calorie deficit and on thermo's. Thinking its a recipe for an injury. If these are foolish notions please let me know, I would rather keep doing Max-OT but thinking I should switch to lighter weight, more reps?? Am I wrong?? cmon you pros, help out a noob?

stick with your routine, just diet change

you should be able to tell if you are getting weaker, but to be honest, this mostly happens the closer you get to competition shape

If you're still making progress with your current routine don't change it. Your chances of injury are no greater will in a calorie deficit.

If progress has stalled on the other hand, or you're feeling burnt out, then it may be time for a change, i.e. number of reps, excercise selection, tempo speed, etc...

read week 11 or 12 at ast.com.it covers this very subject

this is a topic ive always had trouble with... im thinking if youre at a calorie deficit and your muscles are in a catabolic state... your just asking to burn up muscle...

so im thinking... keep your current POUNDAGES but drop your REPS so you are no longer going to failure in ANY set. that way your still sending the right signals to your brain to hold onto muscle by lifting heavy... but you wont be in as much of a catabolic state....
