Training to failure

I tend to train to failure on almost every set. Sometimes I lay off a bit but I think realyl it mostly comes down to proper form and not going too heavy for what your joints are capable of.

that will lead to over training in a relatively short period of time. i wouldnt recommend it

I completely disagree with this. Not saying it can't lead to overtraining, more saying that will likely be the case with an inexperienced lifter who tries something similar.

I've been training that way for 7 years. A lot of it is paying attention to your body.

The con is that you burn out your CNS when you're doing compound lifts, so you'll feel like crap the next time you work out. IMHO, the only good reason to to burn out your CNS is because you want to do deadlifts (not to failure) once a week.

I don't think there's any pro to training to failure. At my gym, it seems like all the weak guys who just bench, curl, and do lat pulldowns always train to failure and wonder why they never get stronger. When's the last time you saw someone who's really strong train to failure in your gym?

Anyone who says one way or the other is best, is full of crap. Everyone is different and everyone will respond differently to training. When I first started training I took every set to failure, I put on 20lbs of muscle that year and people thought I was using juice because my gains kept going up, but, I hit a wall, now I lift to 1-2 reps below. Slowly my gains are increasing again. There is no one way to train to see spectacular results because everyones body will react differently, if you have a program stick to it for a month record everything in a log book and if you are not making progress change it, and if all else fails take the roids(kidding). The only training I think is ridiculous is this 1 rep max bullshit, I see guys doing it all the time, and now that I think of it, i remember doing it too, thats why I know its retarded. But, then again maybe there is 0.001% of the population that will see great results from it so I will wait here for replies on that.
