Training Answer Quick

Im filling out an application to be a personal trainer at my university gym and am stuck on a question. It asks the difference between a seated and standing calf raise. The only answer I was able to come up with was that when seated your calves are more isolated. A quick reply would be greatly appreciated. Thanks All

when you are seated the exercises stresses more on the solieus muscle. When your standing, the exercises stresses more on the gastroc nemius. I'm not sure if my spelling is correct but if you get the point. Any other questions, feel free to pm me.

ummm..one you're standing the other you're sitting :D

You're lucky you asked this while all us smartasses were in dreamland :)

If you don't know the answer to such a simple question I suggest you learn a bit before becoming a personal trainer...there are enough bullshit PT's out there as it is.

Just my opinion.

definitely know what you are working if you are going to have a client do an exercise. if you cant explain how the motion works, you are just a glorified rep counter. plain and simple. make yourself valuable by having some knowledge. just because you work out and may have had success on yourself, doesnt make you able to train others.

how bout: sitting will hack your upper calves more and standing will burn a little more of the lower bit. im agreeing with the bullshit PT's out there. go read a book or something.

someone will answer it sooner or later.

I know the answer, im just fucking really pissed of at people having a pop at pft. I just started the clomd as well.:D

what are you looking for tuna guy? the answer to the first question?
someone said it.
seated hits the soleus more, standing hits the gastrocnemius because it attaches above the knee joint and is used to stabilize the knee.

you obviously don't know what the hell you are talking about....sitting works your solieus (your lower calves) and standing works the gastroc nemius (upper calves).
