Just wondering what time of day everyone trains and why?? I just swiched to afternoons, Like 5pm after work, because I tend to have more energy after a few meals and having been awake for several hours, However, I can't help but feel as if my Cardio is suffering as I'm not on an empty stomach as I was in the AM. But in the AM my weight training suffers due to lack of energy..What to Do???

Im the same way, I train mainly in the AM on an empty stomac and my lifts are a lot better in the afternoon after i've had good food.

Cardio is always better in the morning on an empty stomach but as for weights I just can't get it going Early in the morning

Damn FinDizzy, Great article !!! That really provided some very good info. So, anyone that has an interest in this post I highly reccomend that they give it a once over. So for me, I'll just be sticking with my Late Afternoon workouts. I'll just need to put more time into my cardio. Peace Out Brothers....

Afternoon
prefer after 4 pm

The CNS is PRIMED to lift and your power output will be greater and there is less risk of injury do to core body temp being on the high end relative to the AM.

I still believe cardio is an empty stomach AM endevour .

EXACTLY!
My workouts are much between when performed between 6PM to 9PM as opposed to morning-noon time. I feel it's more CNS thing than plain energy. More so, as opposed to many theories, I will have a much better workout at evening even if I am much more tired than I was in noon. I feel when I'm more tired I am able to bring out more agression/CNS stimulation and recruit more motoric units for my lifts.

You can prime your CNS with a real quality warm-up in the morning too, if that's when you have time to lift.

A couple studies showed a more elevated test response to exercise in the AM, compared to a more elevated GH response in the PM.

Really, the most important thin is that you train period!

i love early morning. i'm up @ 5am and at the gym be 5 30. hit it hard for a good hour or so. then the rest of my day is butter. it makes for early bed times though. i'm usually in bed by no later than 9pm and ut by 10. i love it.

I have always needed to work out between 11am and 4pm. No matter my work or sleep schedule. Luckily I have been blessed with owning my own business so I can (within reason and barring unforseen issues) work my day around my AM cardio and early PM pump. I've tried to vary it but my body always tells me what is right!

AM - Due to schedule. Takes a while to adjust your lifts from lower strength. Sometimes it feels like your not doing enough weight, to me it's easier to overtrain in the AM due to unneeded overcompensation.
