Traditional deadlifts vs. SLDLs

Warblade

New member
I know there was a thread on this somewhere, but I can't seem to find it. Anyway, I do traditional deadlifts on my back day, and I primarily want the exercise to hit my back. I notice a lot of people at my gym do SLDLs, yet I've never seen anyone do traditional ones (yeah, its a foo-foo gym, but still).

So, which would be a better exercise for hitting my lower back, traditional or stiff legged?

Hard to say, because you can move more weight with conventional. But, the mechanics would seem to favor SLs.

I do some SLDLs on my back day after I do conventional deads. I do them off a block. The combo of Traditional and SLs seem to scorch my lower erectors pretty good.

Such a simple solution. Maybe I'll incorporate a set or two of SLDLs after my traditional's. Thanks for the idea :D

SLDL, Keystones, RDL's = Leg work (Hams)

Traditional Deadlift = Back

I'm referring to primary muscle, not secondary/supporting here.

Dead-On-Balls Accurate!!!!

I always did stiff legs after squats on leg days...then deads on back days.
