Torn Calf muscle

i have a torn calf muscle, and my leg still doesnt fully go straight, its been about a month, do I still ice it? or do i put heat on it to make it heal a bit faster, cause i've been doing neither!

any input is greatly appreciated

Well if you have been doing neither, then anything would be better at this point wouldn't you say?

Post a pic of that tore up shit.

(not if you got ugly toes though bro, or old woman heels)

If its torn you have to have it surgically reattached, no amount of ice and heat will do anything. That stuff only works when the muscle is still attached.

I hobbled around on a totally torn achilles tendon for about a month before I saw a doc, he was like, dude, if you want to be able to run and jump and play ever againg, you gotta let me cut ya.

I was like, OK, if you put it that way...

Seriously, you gotta see a good ortho. My cousin, who is an internist was like "just get a walking boot." I didn't have insurance at the time so I was trying to be cheap.

thank God it was still a simple repair. Since it had been a month it was considered a chronic injury and the procedure could have been a lot more complicated.

I did go to the doctor, he gave me some pain medication? t 3's and said let it heal, there was alot of internal bleeding

whats the best way to post up pictures for a non plat? ive got a bunch!

You definitely should've been using the RICE method since the injury. At this point I might suggest spending the money on a infrared heating pad. IR heat penetrates over an inch into tissue, whereas conventional heat just burns the shit out of the epidermis. Deep heating will improve blood blow, which in turn can accelerate healing.

Okay so I've uploaded the pictures here they are...

These pictures are from about a month ago, I can almost fully extend my leg now, but the calf still feels a bit of a strain.

I was wondering If it is actually torn or a tear? Because I'm pretty sure if it was torn the doctor would have reccomended me to a ortho?
but if it was a tear he would have told me to rest, like he did.

theres no more internal bleeding anymore just soreness, stiff.

it feels like it'll be okay within 2-3 weeks.

@rottenwillow- Thanks for the advice, I will look into infrared heat pad!

oh fuckholy shit goddamn oh fuck that is some nasty ass shit

oh lord I almost shit a brick just seeing that. If there were me, I would just accept immediate amputation as the only solution.

no way could I be seen with that on me

hahah it was a long three weeks with that crap on my leg..

You should definitely see a Dr. I'd suggest professional physical therapy.

This is what my ankle looked like three weeks after I tore my achilles completely (I didn't know it at the time). You can still see that a lot of blood had leaked out and pooled near my arch.

And then, this is like 2 or three weeks later (one week post surgery):

I hope you don't end up needing surgery, bro! I'm still not right and that was last August.
