So many of the comments above are so easy to say when you have money.
A little different when you have 3 kids and a mediocre job and your kid gets sick. "Sorry Billy, Daddy can't get help for you because he traded off an 80 hour a week career and big money for actually trying to be a father to you for!"
Why should Joe Schmoe suffer and get in line behind some guy cause he makes 250k a year? Might as well start gathering for worship at your bank every Sunday...
The fact of the matter is, and always has been that in Canada, it's an overwhelming majority that supports and believes in the concept of equal access health care (if you doubt this, I'd suggest learning to read so you can peruse your local newspaper). Another fact of the matter is that it worked for a long time already very successfully. People want it that way, it CAN be done, therefore the Canadian Government has responsibility to make it work, or get out and let someone in who can make it work.
The only people screaming for privatized health care are amusingly enough, those with money. What a fucking surprise! So that's what this is about in my mind "economic survival of the fitest."
Nice culture we're developing into.
