Top court strikes blow to Medicare in Canada

It's forcing those to act..who were not acting before.

First of all, this decision has not instituted 'free market philosophy'. It ruled the provision in the Quebec charter of rights as being unconstitutional. Even that is not finished with yet as they could still invoke their not-withstanding clause to overrule the Supreme Court. It did not strike down the provision in the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms.

Second, you think that instituting free market philosophy will improve our healthcare? Make it more like the US perhaps? 45 million uninsured and twice the cost per person? Access to perhaps the finest healthcare in the world for the rich? Sounds swell, sign me up.

I laugh when Americans denigrate the Canadian healthcare system.

Do you seriously think Canada can provide top-notch, A+, world class health care to ALL Canadians, with reasonable wait times .. with it's current philosophy?

Sure if you want 80% taxes.

Bottom line -- it can't. And it hasn't. The current philosophy ensures mediocre free service to all. More money only makes it mediocre++.

You're just forcing middle class and upper class Canadians to go south. How can one call that a "solution"? Obviously there's a need that isn't being met, hence the migration.

Ours isn't perfect. But at least we have options. Canadians don't.

Sure we can because we always have. It's only degenerated in the past 10 years. It worked fine before even with the restrictions in place on doctors. With the influx of more people, those restrictions need to be removed and the problem would largely dissipate.

As for Americans having an option :lmao:

As stated ad nauseum, only if you have mucho dinero.
