Too much water = bad??

This has happened two or three times now....

.... I try to drink as much water as possible during the day, since I'm not taking supplements or diuretics to get rid of subcetaneous fluid. And each time I've drank a decent amount of water, I've felt dizzy and a bit sick. Almost like I'm drunk, except not as much fun....

I've heard stories about people who have taken exstacy and died because they danced all night and didn't drink enough fluids. And then I've heard stories about people who tried to take preventative measures by drinking heaps of water, but overcompensated and "drowned" themselves. I knew someone personally who did that.

I'm sure bodybuilders etc drink heaps more water every day than I possibly could, but how much is safe? Also, are there any ways to avoid the dizziness and light-headedness? (Note: Today is Monday, yesterday was my refeed/cheat day and so part of it could be due to fluctuating insulin levels)

Thanks.

Ooooh, one more thing!! I gain heaps of water during my refeed days. Should I drink lots of water while refeeding to help counteract that? For some reason I never drank that much water during my refeed days.

you can die from drinking too much water (hence diluting your electrolytes)

but you should then drink so much water that it is very rare

don't be afraid... the average BBer must drink more that other people

When you are refeeding you eat ots of carbs

and 1g of carbs can hold 4g of water :(

that's why you feel easily bloated on refeed days

I try to drink a gallon minimum.
I take a whole gallon jug to the gym and come back with almost the whole thing empty (yeah i drink a lot). Throughout the day i drink about 5-6 glasses.

The feeling is due to a sudden rehydration to the kidneys and stomach acid pH lowering. (most water is basic).

Safe, I would say 2-3gallons for a 180-200lb male is very safe. As long as you take in daily vitamins minerals, and if you do so you can drink 10gallons for all that matters.

You should drink 2-3 gallons on refeed days.

I'm getting a bit used to the high volume of water.... it's easier now. Yesterday I got 9L+ without too much effort, and about the same today.... I notice I'm not going to the toilet quite as often either which helps.

The drunkeness feeling is still there. It's been there pretty much all day.... it's nothing, really. Just a very slight dizziness and when I turn my head, it takes just that little bit longer for the vision to catch up.... kinda like when you're "buzzed" from drinking alcohol.

Anyway, I'll take your word for it that it's safe.... probably not a bad habit to get into anyway, drinking plenty of water. After hearing some stories about kidney stones from people who ate too much rich food and didn't drink enough water, that's plenty of motivation for me....

Make sure to take multi vit/min 3x a day....just to make sure....
