Too much quads?

This is what I was thinking for my leg day. The sets and reps are kinda similar to the 5x5 routine needsize raves about.

Squats
Front Squats
LegPress
SLDL's
seated or standing calves

So my question is this too much quad work?

that's kind of hard to answer unless you give us the number of sets and reps for the exercises. post up exactly what you plan to do so we can help.

Intensity means a lot too.

after doing 3 intense sets to failure for quads today i could hardly walk, let alone pump out another one.

we do need more info

I think you could ditch either the leg press or front squats. Personally, I'd keep the front squats. Other then that, it looks good, and is similiar to what I'm doing for legs these days.

Don't see the point in doing squats and front squats on the same day. I'd do one or the other. But overall, as to your question of if it's too much, I don't think it is.

Here's my leg workout for what it's worth:

squats
hacks
2 calves ss
lunges
curls
ext

sets/reps to me don't matter with this routine as you are only doning ONE direct exercise for hams - not enough

Squats
stiff deads
hacks
rev hypers

One thing I have noticed over the years is that as I progress I need fewer work sets to build. I contribute a lot of it due to the fact that as you train, especially if you train for strenght, your capabale of recruiting more muscle fiber to performa give exercise. With that in mind a more advanced trainer can essentially work the muslces harder with fewer sets.

Ok how does this look.

Squats 5x5
Front Squats 3x12
SLDL's 8,8,6,4
Rev. Hypers 3x8
Calves

The reasoning for the higher rep front squats is that I've read/heard a little bit that high reps work pretty well for legs.

gymtime: I'm doing both front and back squats because back squats work your hamstrings a great deal and quads to a lesser extent. My focus is quads because right now that is my laggin part.

crew looks like my old routine, just make sure your form on front squats is perfect and really try to squeeze your quads at the end

Looks pretty good to me, I might switched the front squats with say leg press every now and then but looks pretty solid

OK fair enough. Only thing I'd add is to throw in a couple sets of extensions at the end just to finish off the quads.

that would be too much for me but my legs always outshined my upper body so I dont do much more than squat and leg curls. I give too much in squats though to do much more anyways
