too much protein?

Sub-Zero

High End Bro
Platinum
a while ago i made a thread about too high creatanin levels in my kidney functions tests so i took a 24 hour urinalysis and they said that the levels are even higher/worse (and its only been a short period of time)

so my moms dumbass told the doctors that i eat alot of protein and they are trying to "suggest" that i not eat as much.

anybody have any input in this?

i was just going to keep doing wat im doing but if anyone thinks im gunna die from it plz let m eknow

lol im reading my own link now and i answered my creatine creatinine question in the first paragraph

I hope someone would answer this, because I believe there IS an amount that is not healthy. That's just what I've read, I don't know too much about it.

Waiting for the pros to answer...

Here's my answer to the question of how much protein you can eat in one sitting:

Did you throw up? If not, then you didn't overdo the protein.

drink lots of water bro, and typically unless you have compromised kidney function to begin with, excess protein is of no additional effect.

300 grams/day is my max and that's a rarity....of course I'm not jacked either...200-250 is the norm for me

my mom is being pretty cool about it though and said she was willing to get me a nutritionist that has knowledgfe of sports

should i take her up on that and keep u guys posted?

i think im getting a kidney ultra sound too

if you are concerned getthe tests completed.

Creatine/protein and muscle breakdown will contribute

I'd only do it if he/she has competed and is very knowledgeable about the "fitness" industry, ect.

Otherwise, you'll just be eating more fruits and veggies... The high protein is considered a "fad" by most and is fairly underground so to speak... the high protein intake (as far as all the meats, ect) that alot here follow is not mainstream and accepted.

And they all deny it as a good way of living, as they sit on their couch and eat T.V. dinners.

btw

the ONLY studies that showed that protein actually caused kindey damage were perfromed on thos with polycystic kidney disease.

To my knowledge, NO study has shown a link to protein intake and kidney damage in healthy individuals

that nutritionist will most likely put you on the goverment's recommended diet just like they teach in school.. my girlfriend is going to college for nutrition and dietitics and I regularly have to de-brainwash her

Shadow... you need to make that avatar larger :)

George gave us Plats. larger dimensions recently.

that one is 179 - just a shade too large

We have a winner.

Thank you Sir.

Also - you have put on some size recently my friend

1. Elevated creatinine levels can result from supplementing with creatine.
2. It can also be caused by an intense workout.

It's a good test for sedentary people but not so much for intensely training ahletes.

Nutritionists are usually appalled at how much protein bodybuilder types consume.

I hate the food pyramid and I think "nutritionists" are generally wrong.

p.s. you should also eat different types of protein so the release rate is relatively stable and you dont need to process a boatlead at one time-

whey - fast protein
egg/supro - medium
casein/meat/etc - slow
great point alot of people miss that.

JavaGuru converted me to using Milk protein isolate (I went with 50/50 MPI & Egg white powder ultimately) for my "all purpose" shakes... provides a much better satiated feeling compared to whey as well.... feels like a meal.

Whey is reserved only for right before/during/ or right after workouts now :)

you can also add some fat to whey to make it a timed release kinda thing

If you eat high protein , just make sure you use digestive enzymes and eat fiber as wel. Fiber will make the protein go into the intestines in smaller portions , thus helping you assimilate it

I agree with what MM69 said , at a certain point, there is no benefit from eating more protein. But I'd go further in saying that there can be negative effects for doing so

dude you're gonna blow your kidney and have to go on
protein hrt FOREVA!

I used to try that... then i'd get carried away (1 scoop...4 scoops) and fat calories are DENSE... so that's a bad idea for me, since i'm not keeping track too closely, lol

I can understand by adding more calories to the protein that this can cause you to have to do more work to digest it. This should making the food your eat be broken down slower. But the only way to get a time release protein is to swallow a time release protein...

If you have no issues eating peanuts , then this is a good choice. I will associate peanuts with other nuts even though I understand it is a legume...

Anyway any tree nut will work such as pecans , almonds and cashews
