Too many complex carbs?

This is sorta a dumb question, but I'm wondering if there's a downside to eating too many complex carbs and not enough simple carbs (I mean low GI simple carbs like fruit.)

For example, I have oatmeal for breakfast, brown rice as a PPWO meal, a sandwich with two slices of bread for a snack, and pasta for dinner. (I get protein at every meal too, these are just my carb sources....)

Should I swap in some fruit or yogurt or something for some of the bread or something?

depends on your goals. Dont swap- just add, if your bulking. You always need fruit. I always have some for breakfast. Most of your simple carbs, however, should come in your pwo shake.

IMO fruits are overrated. They are just basically sugars with very little upside nutritionwise, the nutrients and phytochemicals are in the peels or the outside of the fruit in most cases. Unless you need potassium or specific needs I would avoid them and stick with the complex carbs. Note: cantaloupe has about twice as potassium as bananas. Of course unless you really enjoy them, lifes too short to have a lifestyle deficient in foods you like.

I like fruit. Having been on a TKD for the last 4 weeks, I am really starting to miss it. Having a apple, orange, bananna, melon, whatever always feels like it is cleaning out my system and makes me feel healthy.

Eating 2 pounds of ground been and a pound of cheese a day can have the oppsite effect...

If you are bulking, eat some fruit - good for you.

Fruit doesn't spike your insulin...almost all fruit is low GI, and in fact have lower GI's than most complex carbs.

actually only certain fruits have low-moderate GI indexes. Oranges, apples and if I'm not mistaken, strawberries are superior fruit choices.
