today's workout

4 board: 315x3, 335x3, 355x3, 370x1, 385x0, 385x1(PR i think),
405x0, 405x0 dammit i want 405 soon on this

shirt on: 315x3, 335x3, 355x3(PR), 375x1, 375x1, 335x3

lockouts: 315x3, 365x3, 420x0, 405x0 (hurried too much)

decline DB extensions(superset): 35s x 12, 45s x 5

i was pressed for time towards the end. that kinda screwed things up

learned that the metal militia way to do things is to do boards BEFORE shirted work until 3 weeks from a meet then switch it around so thats what i did

i worked up to 2 singles of 365 in the shirt last week and got 2 fairly easy singles with 375 this week. i will continue this trend

today was the first time i actually had a weight not touch in a shirt (on the lighter weights..they touched the third rep like it should go). felt like things were going right so i was happy with the shirt work

i've been taking glucosamine/chondroitin (500mg and 400mg in each capsule so over 1g and 800mg respectively a day) and i feel it has helped all my joints.

on a side note: when you're holding up to 400 lbs in your hands and working with it for over half an hour, it makes 315 feel suprisingly light :)

oh another side note. for those that dont know, when you do shirt reps, you don't buckle the shirt down with a belt and you let it ride high..dont pull it down. you get stronger w/ less support so when you do pull it down in the last couple weeks before a meet and the day of the meet..you will get that much more out of the shirt

good stuff jeremy.... your getting very strong, especially on your lockout.

thanks for all the tips on comp benching. it makes a lot of sense. i do a lot of the same thing. figure out how your going to move the most weight for a contest. then figure out the hardest way to do that goal. train that way, untill a few weeks out from contest, then when you do it the eaiser way, you'll surprise yourself. always make training harder than the comp.

and with the 315 feeling lighter i know what you mean.;

wednesday i tried to deadlift 505 twice....i got it a foot off the floor. then i tried 480 got it past my knees. then my wife worked up to her max of 185, so when i went to pick it up to rack it, i almost cleaned it.

looks solid man, do you do board work in your shirt too?

no i dont do board work in my shirt but i might try it every once in a great while to change things up. actually that might be a good idea. i slow towards lockout in shirted bench so if i did 2 or 3 boards shirted...hmm...

exodus, you got it right man. lol at the clean part

thanks guys

awesome brutha..i'm starting to see fellas doing boards before shirt work..which is something i have to do but i do believe that workin with 400 will make 315 light!! congrats on the PR!! tb
