to the MMA guys (or anyone that wants to add .02)

decline sit ups with a 45 2x a week 3 sets of 15-20 with very slow reps. this is the only direct ab training i do during the week, the rest is diet.

thanx for the tips.....I dont want to sound like a dick, but I didnt say anything about a 6 pack. I just wanted routines, I dont give a shit about a diet.

Nwinters - I train my abs 2-4 days a week, and mix it up between weighted ab work, such as situps with a plate behind my head, sidebends, some other different twisting/oblique exercises, and non weighted ground based ab work for high reps... v-ups, atomic situps, jackknifes, leg raises, different static holds (pikes), and a few other movements. I'd like to make my own medicine ball and tornado ball in the future as those are also valuable tools for the abs.

Can't believe someone posted what Usher does.

I'm with Suston, but I would increase the frequency of weighted work.

Doing situps won't give you abbs..honestly...i used to be a situp freak...i did them all the time..i could do like hundreds...bit trust me, i still had no abs. You just need to burn calories and stay lean,

If you can do hundreds then you're defeating the purpose. I meant weighted situps, 2 hard sets of 10-15 reps. Increasing weight each time.

Winters a good workout is doing 5 sets of 10 weighted supersetted with 5x10 of weighter reverse hypes. and then one long static hold, it mimics the amount of time you may be taking punches to the abs in the corner, thanks coach you rotten bastard.

usher is pretty damn gay, i didnt wanna mention him but thats just one more person that i thought you guys would kno.hesaid he does shitload of abs and his trainer works him pretty hard, he prolly like justin timberlake... just happened to be talking about his ab routine on bet few years ago

anyway, there has to be some purpuse for doing abs everyday, I remembered doing that and after 2-3 months I saw my abs when I was training hard 2 years ago...

I just think that you can have strong abs doing it everyday plus your ab stamina will go up especially in a sport like basketball where you need it, I mean everytime you do a move it comes from your abs as much as your legs...I've been told this by many athletes(basketball players mostly, and some guy that used to box), and keep hearing the same thing thats why im kinda suprised hearing workouts on abs here

its just that weightlifting is a different thing from endurance sprorts I guess...

I cant get on a diets like ckds and shit so maybe thats why overtraining my abs was the only way I started noticing them.
