My monitor sometimes unexpectedly goes into a little rectangle and eventually turns off. I'm like man what the fuck. I turn it on again and it works fine, but it happens regularly like every 5 mins or so... does anyone know anything about monitors shutting down? How am i supposed to pull my dick off when all i can see is a black screen. I've got a warranty on it but i'm not so sure it's that serious. I've tried fooling with the cables at the back and that doesnt seem to be the problem. It's almost just like the computer has a mind of its own and turns the screen off. By the way it only happens frequently when i've just turned the computer on, then the monitor usually stays on... ANY suggestions i will be grateful.

Monitors get quirkly if they are damaged or failing.

Could also be a bad video card.

All you can do is test the monitor on a different computer (or a laptop). If it keeps doing it, it's the monitor and you should replace it. If it doesn't do it, it's likely a failing video card.

What you describe is not normal at all.

For the more immediate problem, use your imagination.
