Please Scroll Down to See Forums Below i have a new job which im doing well in. its a sales job. my main issue is that one days when im down or feel shitty i cant stay confident when selling and it puts me in a hole. how do those of you succesful people display confidence all the time regardless of your circumstances? they say in order to be successful one must project an image of success all the time. id love to be able to do that but ive always been on the lower end of the confidence scale. id at least like to exuberate confidence even if i really dont have any. tips anyone?

if you have a good day (i.e. make a few sales), don't get too high on yourself.
conversely,if you have a shitty day don't get too down on yourself. your personal life has nothing to do with your job.
know your product too and you have to show you provide extra value than the next guy in sales

play the game bro, play the game. I cant even tell you how many successfull people I know that are straight edge at work, confident and serious, then they get home and are a completely different person, laid back and chill.
In order to be confident at work often, you have to work at it at first. Everyday before you start you have to talk yourself up, allow yourself to feel great. With time it becomes 2nd nature. I wasnt the most confident person at first, but everyday when I drove to work I would talk myself up, over a matter of a few months I became a different person. Now I dont need to think about it.

Why do you think you're feeling this way? Is it a personal issue, or do you think you need to learn your product better? You don't need to be "on" all the time, half of what you do should just be asking the right questions and then STFU and let your customers talk. Are you afraid to ask for the business?

stick to what you know. don't worry about what other people are doing...i don't give a fuck if i'm the #1 producer, although i have been several times at companies i was at. its good to strive for that but if you fail to meet the goal dont get down on yourself

Getting back to confidence...positive self talk + work harder = more sales = bigger income = happier = more confident.

Like these guys have said, sometimes you need to psyche yourself up. Tony Robbins calls it getting into state, where you remember a time you were totally on and allow those feelings to come into you and make you feel amazing. Maybe think about your last tough sale and the feeling you had when you finally got them to sign and it was done, you probably felt on top of the world. Think about that the next time you feel your confidence drop and it will give you a mental boost.
In terms of self confidence, that comes from inside you - make sure you always look and feel your best. Dress so that people give you compliments, work out so you know you look good and smile your ass off even if you have to practice. Practicing smiling sounds weird but it works after a while. Post something motivational all over the place so you have a constant reminder of how good you are - perception is reality especially to your brain. If you repeat to yourself enough that you are the best salesperson they have then your brain and body will find a way to make it happen.
