Time to dump my training partner...

I've worked out with this guy for about 5 years now, minus the last 18 months, and we just started up again in January of this year...

He was always there, rarely ever missed a day...

Well, since the beginning of January, out of a total of 22 workout days (he doesn't come in on Saturdays), he's missed about 9 days...

Well, i drag my ass out of bed and be in the gym by 7:30 as normal, and he doesn't show once again... that was the final straw...

i'm not going to kill myself to get into the gym for 7:30 if this fuck can't make it in as well...

i'm gonna switch my training time to 1:00PM from now on, and hit my workouts before i start work at 3:00PM... i'll have enough time to train, shower and grub and then head to work...

I plan on starting a 5x5 SF soon, and he probably wouldn't have wanted to do it anyhow, as he "doesn't do legs"...

just ranting here... i hate when your partner leaves you hanging... :xeye:

thoroughly ghey

i have never trained with a partner for any period of time. they don't show after I make effort to show...fuggit. not worth the effort.

keep kickin' ass though, you're obviously on a roll. don't let the unmotivated former training partner keep ya down!

one of the other buddies from NY is a great partner... unfortunately he moved there several years ago, so i was left looking for a new one...

we would push each other to our limits, challenge each others manhood, if you would...

i still get to hit the weights with him twice a month on Saturdays though, so at least i have that to look forward to...

This is why I prefer to workout alone. You lift when you want and you dont have to wait on other people.

The shitty part is finding a good spotter in the gym. Most people cant get it right. You'll be going for a PR and they'll start helping you when it is not needed.

You just have to be really clear with spotters and tell them that they shouldn't touch the bar unless either you call for help or pass out. I've yet to find anyone who fails to take the instructions although they still often seem to want to rack the bar for me.

i've worked out with partners and it was great, but working out alone is fine for me too. I push myself pretty hard anyways. but the helping hand in the event of failure is always nice. Now that I work out in a power rack, I just set the catches and can slide out from anything I can't lift....problem solved. hehehe.

I have had 3 good training partners. Ever. One of them is thankfully my wife. Training partners are awesome if they are willing to work hard and pay attention. Once you learn each other's "needs" and styles, it can be great.

Otherwise, I've spent almost as much time training alone.

I've been training solo for the last 3yrs now. I really miss having my workout partner. A good partner is clutch. Now if I have to ask for a spotter at the gym (which I don't like to do) I ask the guy not to touch the bar unless I say "spot" (for the bench that is).

You said it. I use the power rack also. Haven't ever had a training partner and don't want one. It's nice to work out and not have to worry about anyone else.
