Alright guys, I'm currently in a successful bulk using 5x5 but am starting to slow down. Ive been thinking about using something a little more geared towards size although I know that 5x5 is great for size also. I was just wondering what some thoughts are on this program?
If you are in the middle of a first run at something new isnt it a bit early to think of switching for the sake of it. I doubt you will find anything else that will pack on the mass more quickly than what you are doing. The style of training you are doing for an intermediate trainee can be run concurrently for months on end while still progressing. Stick with it.
I agree, don't stop halfway, ride it for everything its worth. Just because you're slowing down doesnt mean the gains are over for the program, up your calories and keep increasing weights and the results will come, no point in switching it now.
That said, HST is one of the rare cookie-cutter programs that seems to work fairly well. It's based on good principles. Some of it is iffy (strategic deconditioning, which they may not even use anymore) but by and large, it's sound. Check the training vault sticky. It's got a link to the HST boards.
