Kodak was stupid. It's not sad, it's pathetic. they had such a monopoly for such a long time that they never focused on diversification or development.

There's a reason Fuji is around and Kodak isn't. Fuji got into the cosmetics industry (using similar technology they instituted) and they were able to survive as a result.

Makes you wonder how terribly run the company must have been. To not evolve at all or diversify one bit, I feel bad for the people who get stiffed by kodak from all this. This is a company that had board meetings with a shitload of people all just in for the ride i guess and a CEO (s) who must have been doing something else with his time.

This is very true, their film monopoly was ridiculous, what I dont understand is why cant they just take a good thing and reverse engineer? evaluate successful current cameras and mimic them, a lot of us still like the brand enough to chose them over other manufacturers

A lot of similarities between the two. Products that became obsolete or lost popularity, and management failure to keep up with the times.

Funny though, Hostess says that the problem is the high cost of labor, unions and pensions. they never mention that the executives that run the company are a bunch of morons who thought that they could keep selling 1950's style chemical/food crap forever in the Twinkie and Wonder bread, and no one would ever get sick of it. It's not managements fault that they didn't notice that things have changed a bit with people's diets, health knowledge, and market selection since 1950. Nope, it's those damn unions that want too much money!
