Reparations. Hmm. I wouldn't think they would be necessary, however...
Didn't Jews get money?
Don't Native Americans get Casinos?
Why is it that we want to deny Blacks so bad, but don't argue against paying other creeds/races for their suffering?
The reason is because of guilt. Denial of guilt makes things easier. The reparations aren't really the point...it is that Blacks want to be acknowledged for their suffering.
Early Americans weren't much better than Hitler, by accounts that I've been reading...note my current book indulgence which details the horrors of slavery as well as a good grounding in history from a non-white perspective:

Comparisons of early Americans to Hitlerism may seem far-fetched, but when you actually read a book or two on the subjects, you realize that Americans are just not ready to deal with the guilt of being so awful...while at the same time going to the rescue of other races.
Which brings me to the question: Eastern European wars that the US gets involved in .... similar atrocities happen in Africa....why don't we go there also?
whatever. I never expect anyone in denial to get better until they admit they are sick. Reparations won't come until the denial is over.
And by the time that happens, we'll have a Black president.
