A lot of those aren't ownership but just shares as it notes, so it is kind of uncessary for them to be included. Such as Isuzu under GM, as well as Suzuki and Subaru. As well, a lot of those are joint ownerships if I'm not mistaken, like Jaguar Ford and Volvo.

i believe volkswagen owns porsche.. could be mistaken...

Ford and GM shares just got placed in the "junk bonds" cattegory last week, meaning they are doing horrible. Expect tons of auto industry lay offs in the midwest soon.

only one that surprised me was GM owning SAAB didn't know that

That's why Saabs are now built using shared GM platforms. Heck, Saab even sells a version of the Subaru Impreza WRX (Saab 9-2x) and the Chevy Trailblazer (Saab 9-7). The 9-3 and 9-5 use shared Opel/Vauxhall platforms.

GM also bought out Hughes Aircraft, which makes guidance systems for "smart bombs".
So now the company that brought you the Corvair ("Unsafe at any speed") is also building cruise missles.

Actually the Corvair was a quite decent car for its time.
