Got a Tech and sure I could hire more if needed

fix personal pc's and lappys

sell custom made (bought on ebay and mark it up)

What do you guys think?

My love for knowledge of computers is growing daily

I'm geigh

Just so we're clear... You were the one that couldn't click links in plat chat for months because of a simple setting you could have changed, right?

It's really good business if you realy have experience and now ur way around a PC, I'm gonna open one soon here in CR because everything is insanely expensive for repairs and overpriced for parts...a $9 ram in the US is $30 here, a 260GTX that cost me $200 months ago is $700... it's nuts... it's a very profitable market.... :)

We know you're geigh.

Best money is connecting with small businesses that like having their own IT department they can call on for anything. As a teenager I worked at a IT services company that serviced 50 or so small businesses in the city.

They'd pay a monthly fee for support, and in exchange when things go wrong - they can call us, we'd go there fix things, sell them new computrers, software, networks, websites, etc. And of course with teenage computer gods like me going there to fix things, they loved the company and profits rose insanely. Profit increases even more if u get government contracts (always hire ex-military if u find them).

Then I quit and got into animation. :)

Are you a Microsoft Authorized Refurbisher?
Oh wait. you're not. :(

Guess it depends on your area....are there many competitors around? Where are you located? Is the population dense enough near the location to have demand? You can always low ball competitors if you can do it yourself....

If this is what you enjoy and you are good at it, than go for it!!!!!! Don't let people mess with your dreams or ideas.

In your area I would not mark up too much because people would end up buying from ebay and not you.

lmfao @ this.

i was thinkin the same thing.

dude, shouldnt you actually know about computers before opening a store?

You can't delegate EVERYTHING or if you do you need to make sure that you know enough to keep on an eye on things

i think so

I suspect it is not very profitable. There's a lot of techies around with similar visions.

But you could offer half price for pirated software.

I was going to take microsoft courses before you dumbarses also did you hear the part where I said I already had one technician (young kid).
I will not be the one fixing the computers. I will be selling my business, service and products.

If you want to take care of that side of the business you should probably have someone handling the other technical side, unless your resident tech is going to do it. Otherwise it sounds like a good idea and I say give it a try - why not?

did that for 8 years.. do yourself a favor, own the business, don't partner with someone that has all of the knowledge. Typically the relationship the tech has with the client is very strong so protect yourself.

Also, service service service.. My vertical was banking and yes we were very good at it.. problem being, i burned out 2 techs, too much travel..even at $200 per hour including trip time..

That's the thing, I am a salesman. I am aware I need more computer knowledge but that is what the techs are for. Thats' the other problem with these places IT or tech guys are no sales or retail people. I am.

fvck off haters

you're truly an idiot to delegate the most central aspect of the business to someone else in which you can't even oversee because you have no idea whats right or wrong

i wasn't knocking your flooring business skills

i was knocking the fact you finally figured out how to reboot your computer last week

You should say screw that, and open up a 'Relationship Therapy' business and get mojo business on EF. Since 90% of threads on EF are about relationship drama. :)
