SYDNEY -- A scientist at Sydney's top Olympic training center, the New South Wales Academy of Sport, has been suspended after being charged with illegally importing steroids ordered over the Internet.

Australian customs officials said the man had been summonsed to appear in a Sydney court on May 9 after they intercepted a package containing the body-building substances dehyroepiandrosterone (DHEA) and androstenedione.

The academy issued a statement on Wednesday to say the man had been stood down from his job.

"We have been advised that the matter is under investigation by the Commonwealth authorities and as a result we cannot make any further comment until that investigation is complete," the academy's director-general Brendan O'Reilly said.

"On receiving advice that this employee was under investigation he immediately ceased work pending the outcome of the investigation."

A court official told Reuters that the man had been charged with trying to import three bottles of DHEA and a bottle of androstenedione from the United States.

Both drugs are illegal in Australia and included on the International Olympic Committee's list of banned substances but are freely available over the counter in the U.S.

The academy said in its statement that the man had ordered the drugs over the Internet.

The case comes less than two weeks after one of Australia's top female basketballers revealed she was being investigated after customs intercepted a package addressed to her which also contained DHEA.

Its all being done in the name of protecting us US citizens and for every so called bit of protection we loose valuable freedoms.

Think about this:
a. The number of physicians in the US is 700,000.
b. Accidental deaths caused by Physicians per year is 120,000.
c. Accidental deaths per physician is 0.171. (US Dept. of Health & Human Services)

Then think about this:
a. The number of gun owners in the US is 80,000,000.
b. The number of accidental gun deaths per year (all age groups) is 1,500.
c. The number of accidental deaths per gun owner is .0000188.

Statistically, doctors are approximately 9,000 times more dangerous than gun owners.

Then look at tabacco and alcohol, who knows how many hundreds of thousands of people die each year from them, yet they are legal. all because the government gets money from their sale.

That is a fucking killer quote Zyg, I love it, maybe I will put it in my sig line.

Dont get me wrong, Dr's have a hard job. My point was to simply try and put things into persepective. Our government is slowly taking away our freedoms in an effort to protect us from ourselves. As far as I am concerned let darwinisn take its toll, the government should know by now they cant save the world and they should concentrate on things that are more important that a few AAS users.
