i went out last night to the bar and ended up crashing on the couch at a friends and my car was parked in the driveway with about 6 inches of the bumper hanging over the sidewalk and i wake up this morning and go to leave and the cocksucking parking enforcement gave me a ticket, 30 bucks isnt much,but I think its bullshit and dont want to pay it.

i fight all tickets...speeding ticks, the cops usually cut you a deal. parking ticks, hell, last time I went the lady not only dismissed the 2 i went there to fight, she pretty much convinced me to fight 2 others and dismissed those as well.

I'd show up and fight it anyway, you don't have anything to lose. I don't know if you will have a hearing in front of a judge or parking commisioner but if it's a judge, if the person who wrote the ticket doesn't show up, it usually gets dismissed. Either way, you have nothing to lose.

based on my college experiences, chances are you appeal by the letter by sending a written explanation along with the ticket. Whoever reviews the appeals will probably give your letter almost no consideration and repeal it without even thinking. Why should the city/school care when they can just take your money?

My buddy parked at a meter at the beach. (yeah, NJ Fuck!) anyway, when we came back to feed the meter after 3 or whatever hours... It had about 5-10 minutes on the meter AND a fucking ticket on it!!! wtf x 7.5!!1

Anyway, I think he just paid it.
