Thick shake

What do you do to make your shake thicker ?

some protein powders give a liquid shake and I'd rather have a thick-like-pudding one ?

I have try some fat free vanilla Jell-O and it works great :verygood:
 
My favorite thick shake is:

1 cup low-carb chocolate milk
1 scoop ON whey
1 frozen banana
2 ice cubes

At first I used 4 cubes and it was runny, 2 seemed to work much better. Also, just use more powder and less milk for thicker shakes.

Check out Bulk Foods or any health food store.
You can also get guar gum or xantham gum. They are both a type of fiber, but you use very little to get a thick consistency.

I remember having tried agar agar
it is a seaweed.... and it smells like seaweed :worried:
 
Xanthan gum seems really expensive

I've also found arrow root which seems to be a great (natural) thickener
 
I tried guar gum

It works (ie thickens) pretty well a cold liquid but does not work with a hot one

and tastes almost neutral
 
Sometimes I add about a tablespoon to my shake and wait 10-15 minutes for it to thicken up. It tastes kinda like oatmeal... yum :p

So it is just like wine

the more you wait the better it gets :p
