They set PR's!!!!

I was very proud of my guys today in the gym...they all set PR's.

They decided to do clean and split-jerk for a 1-3RM for ME upper day today...and I mean they went balls to the wall. A little success has taken them a long way over the past few weeks.

Chris has always had back problems. We got rid of the belt (loosened it a lot the first 2 weeks, took it off after that), started doing hyper extensions and ab work, and he is doing fine without it. Working on his triceps and his bench form has increased and his overheads have flown up. I hope that it all carries over to his throwing a lot. I don't see how it couldn't...

Shamir is pushing some crazy weights too. He did full clean and jerks with 255x3 with a bum knee today...and he nailed ALL of them (after throwing too).

Rebecca ate 3 meals before lifting today, had better color, and looked stronger on her throwing and her box squats. Emily and Jamie both looked VERY strong on box squats today and they found a new love for using bands on squats. They also set a solid PR on cleans.

The best thing about the throwers is this...they are all excited and yelling for each other in the gym...like a TEAM. No other team does this in the gym...but they are doing it now. Everyone watches when they lift (because they are doing 'different' exercises also) as they yell each other on to push harder and get a PR. It is awesome...intensity.

Two of the three football players that I was working with...cooked up A LOT of food on Monday and have started eating full-time:) I told them to NEVER get hungry. Eat whenever they feel hungry. They are excited about the future and their progress!!!!

Kaleena, 6'2" basketball player whom I've been helping with her bench form for 2 weeks now, came down to the weight room today (wayyyyy out of her way) just to let me know that she set a PR on the bench this morning. She benched 115 with NO pain and was soooo pumped about it. She also said that by her Sr year (she is a Jr. now) she wants to bench 150 and get her picture on the wall with the other girls who have benched 150. Her thanks, excitement, and handshake was worth a weeks pay...

Great stories, this one in particular.

I think you found your future carreer Clint. You enjoy training others and they respond well. I reall think you should consider this line of work.

B-Fold- Nice to see you making such good progress... Throwers are a cool circle of people... lots of bonding between them... maybe it is the fact they have no one else to count on when in the ring that they support much more during training...

Or maybe it is the fact they can order pizza to the track meet in the afternoon when they are already finished, while the Distance guys are just warming up....

Does your boss know this

My boss has seen a lot of this...and so has the other trainers in the gym.

He doesn't have the authority to give me more hours or a pay increase though.

The BIG thing here is this...NOBODY comes to Murray State and stays if they are a good coach. There are a few BIG NAME SEC coaches who have came from MSU because they were successful here. I'm making contacts...with people who will not be here very long (either winning a lot or losing a lot).

No joking there. I used to run the 2 mile, which was always the very last event. It was usually dark out and NOBODY sticks around for that half the time except the coaches and other 2 milers - very lonely event.

sorry no one stuck around to watch dude.... I always stayed for everyone to finish personally I think it is not respectful if you do not.... I used to order the pizza TO the meet... I would tell the guy I would meet him at such and such landmark.... we always made sure to let you LD guys know you were welcome to come by the throwing tent and grab a slice (after you were done)

That's awesome B Fold. When you lead from the front like you clearly do, there's no reason for the people around you to not succeed.
