They can't take it away from me...

I have been reading a lot on this board about Christianity, The Pledge, Prayer, etc... It all does bother me, but I want people to understand something. To me, a Christian, they can never take away my beliefs, my morals, my thoughs, or the fact that I am a Christian.

They can take away prayers in school. They can outlaw the Pledge. They can take "In God We Trust" off of our currency and the President can stop going to Church. They can take the Bible off the shelves, banish it from our country and outlaw wearing the cross around your neck.

They can never take away the feelings that I have inside though...never. They can take away my freedom to publically practice my religion, but they can't take my religion away from me. They can take my car, my clothes, my food...and I will still be a Christian. I will still believe, deep down inside, I will always believe.

Good post B fold!

I feel the same way. I am not going to sit here and fight everybody who doesn't believe in God. It's their choice whether to believe or not.

I used to get upset when reading those kinds of threads and I would jump right in and try and fight them off one by one. It didn't take long for me to realize that it's like pissing into the wind. Let them believe whatever their hearts want them to believe. I know what kind of a person I am and I am proud that I have chosen the road to believe in God.

America is heading down the wrong road, IMO, when it comes to removing all of these things so as not to offend anyone or any group. I have enough day to day problems to deal with and life changing decisions to make each day. Some days, I feel the world is against me, while other days I would never change a thing. It's all about what you feel needs to be prioritized in your life. I know because of the things my parents taught me and the beliefs they instilled upon me that I will always need God in my life to help me make those decisions.

I don't put God on the side and use Him when I only need Him. I count on Him to be there every step of the way and guide me through life's ever changing courses. I don't look at needing His help as a form of my own weeknesses but I feel that if I didn't have Him in my heart, I would probably be a totally different person altogether. He gives me the strength to make the right decisions and to stand firm in those decisions.

So, everybody can believe what they want. They can take away all of the things b fold has mentioned in his post. It's no skin off my back. I just hope and pray that other people will read this and know where I stand on this subject and respect it.

gotta agree here... i dont want to TAKE anyones faith from them... i couldnt care less what someone else believes, but when time comes for me to have children... i dont want someone else pounding something i consider not to be rational or logical into their heads... i will raise my child how i want, teach them what i want... just as the christian parents teach their children... schools need to stay out of the belief business...

why not change the pledge, a tiny bit...

one nation, under god.....

change it...

one nation, united... look how simple that is.

I hope that Christianity is basically eliminated voluntarily, peacefully and constitutionally. I don't care what it is replaced with as long as it is not Abrahamic.

However, I don't want the government to use its power to do so, nor do I think that is a threat in any way whatsoever.

I know why many Christians are bothered by the idea of removing monotheistic references from our national motto, currency, etc. It is because these references are what supports the conformity that creates the comfy little safe world of Christianity.

Good post bro!

Where did they get all this time to argue about petty B.S. anyways? How come nobody cares about real issues like finding a better way to stop terrosim other than taking away every single one of our constitutional rights.

I find this a rather dumb thread.
nobody is trying to take anything away from you.
However I dont need nobody teaching shit about faith or religion or ethics or whatever to my kid. that my business. and no stupid school teacher should be touching it.

I can not imagine you disagree.

I don't care IF they take everything away from me. My FAITH is inside of me...it does not lay in the dollar bill, the pledge, or in prayers at school...

Let them change it, they can't change me.

i agree. i am aethiest, but for the most part, seeing god written and said all over the place, i just overlook it. like you said, what you believe in is what you believe in.

my family doesn't even know i'm aethiest....never came up (god was never spoken about). i once told my i was aethiest, probably around 10th or 11th grade, and she snapped back at me, "BULLSHIT!". i was like, ok if you say so. and i never brought it up again. when visiting my dad and when we have things with other family members from my dad's side of the family, prayers are often said. i never pray; i just sit there quietly. during highschool, when prayers were said in chapel and stuff, i just sat there looking around. that's when you'd notice how many other people aren't praying too.

My point is...the fact that God is mentioned on the dollar bill, the pledge, etc...doesn't phase me. It isn't that big of a deal. Just because our country does or does not support the religion that I believe in, it will not affect me. I hope that you feel the same way.

Beliefs are something felt inside...not something that is expressed in a saying, ritual, etc...
