A myth. Nonsense.

You can hit the THR all day long and still gain fat. Where's the proof? How do we know that elevating HR burns that much more fat?

Meanwhile, train exactly as you do now, cut 1000 calories from your diet and walk 10 miles a day. You will NEVER reach the THR they say is necessary. Yet, by the end of the month, you will hjave lost fat. Guaranteed. It's all pseudo science. Don't believe it.
 
Cardio is extremely overdone in my opinion and it ruins physiques. It gives you that skinny fat look.

HARD weight training, and I mean truly hard weight training (something very few people do a lot of now a days) is what sculpts and tones the physique.

I recommend 2-4 HARD cardio sessions per week of 20-40 minutes to keep the heart healthy. Anything besides that isn't needed. Even in pre contest. I do 30 minutes of cardio twice per week. Diet is everything.
